Chevy Ford Ram race and who do you think wins😁

I've given up on bumper pulls, and 2500s. These days, if I transport a car it's on or in one of these. And yes, that first photo is indeed a 2500. But my girlfriend has since traded for a 3500 longbed. And this last photo is what towing with a 1500 is like to me.

Chevy Ford Ram race and who do you think wins😁

I used a WD hitch with active anti-sway when towing a 16-foot enclosed trailer, even when empty (or maybe I should say especially when empty) to keep my Ram 2500 crew cab shortbed going straight when passing tractor trailers. Larger trailer with a lighter tow vehicle? No thanks, that's not for me.

Chevy Ford Ram race and who do you think wins😁

Against better knowledge, curiosity got the better of me so I did try to tow with the new 1500. It did better than the old one, but that's really not saying much. It was still very obvious that the trailer was back there. Yes, the drum was full, so there was a little bit of weight involved...

Chevy Ford Ram race and who do you think wins😁

And that's the part I really don't like. A J2807 rating of 12,000 lbs. for a 1/2-ton is nuts, I think. But not as nuts as those who believe the salesman, don't look at the parts and pieces underneath, and then tow 12K. How long will the 1500 last? How will it handle with that much in tow...

Chevy Ford Ram race and who do you think wins😁

You got the wrong 1500 then. My 1500 is quite quick. But I sure wouldn't want to tow with it. Or load more than maybe 200 lbs. in it. To me, a 1500 is a car with a little bed in the back.

Chevy Ford Ram race and who do you think wins😁

Yep, I couldn't care less how quick my Ram 3500 is, but do like that it'll pull some 25,000 lbs. (in addition to its own 9,500 lb. weight) in the Rockies. That'd be a very slow ascent with a gas engine, and iffy going downhill without an exhaust brake. Electric? Maybe. If there was a charging...

    AlfaOBD

I hope you're right, Gearhead. The TRX crowd has tried (and failed) based on what I've seen, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

    AlfaOBD

Yeah, that's what I thought. Thankfully we don't have hot or humid here, which is why I'd have no use for a function like that. That'd be great if it works, but I don't think it's possible. Not without having the computer unlocked first, anyway. If AlfaOBD would let me, the 118 mph limit in...

Hmm. That's not something I would consider, or want. Especially since I rarely use the fob for anything. Other than to let me start the car, obviously. Anything more practical that could be appealing?

What is there that's desirable to change on 'Cats?

    AlfaOBD

Have only used it on Rams, so far, but really like it.

The Best 4-Cylinder Engine Ever Made

That sounds like a guilty plea to me.

The Best 4-Cylinder Engine Ever Made

I think the lowest my 'Cat has sunk to is about 5,000 feet. And once down there, the roads are full of traffic lights, other cars, and cops, so I can't really tell if it runs any better. Does it run worse at 10,000 feet? Technically yes, but there the roads aren't straight enough to tell the...

Uh, oh. That couldn't be much more than an hour from here (the way I drive).

Make those mountains one of the southerly ones and I could stop by and help. That northerly part where BULL hangs out seems to be on fire all the time, and is a bit of a drive for me.

Would you believe that it was the opening scene in Kelly's Heroes that made me buy my first Jeep? And it's been quite a few since.

    Hellcat wont Crank

Yep, the key to reviving a dead (or really low) battery is to give it no more than 2 Amps, for a long time. It'll never be the same, but could still be useful for years.

Best 4-banger? The Go Devil in the early Jeeps. Helped keep us from speaking German.

    And ideally with desulfation.

    Hellcat wont Crank

When the day comes, I'll hook up a battery to the posts under the hood, then replace the battery. The 'Cat's brain will never realize what happened.
