    Banned friends.

Brings back memories of ordering coffee at a fast food place, then wolf down all the condiments on the table for "dinner". The cute waitress seemed to get used to it and refilled the condiments for me. About a year later, now in norther California, raiding the landlord's onion and tomato garden...

Is this true? 2026 Durango RT/392 and Hellcat not available in many states?

Sorry, but it's too late to change my order to a 392 or Hellcat, and I have absolutely no intentions to move back to California, so I can't (or won't) do my due diligence and prove anything one way or the other. Besides, a dealership - and especially a respected one - will not suggest doing...

What did you do to your Hellcat today?

    Any road in Kansas?

    Tires

It's what I call whatever chemicals that people punish their tires' sidewalls with.

She certainly could if she wanted to, but she doesn't and looks perfectly fine without any. And speaking of tire goop, I've always wondered what happens to the brakes when people spray wheel cleaners and tire goop on the rotors. Are the pads somehow impervious to those chemicals?

Is this true? 2026 Durango RT/392 and Hellcat not available in many states?

That's why I separated California from the other states and mentioned having to jump through hoops there. Having registered some odd things there I still think it's doable, but if someone on You tube says it's not, who am I to argue such absolute authority?

    Tires

I'm surely in a minority, as usual, but when I see a vehicle with tire goop on its tires, the last thing that comes to mind is "that looks good". Instead I think "poor tires...why?!?". Of course, I tend to prioritize function over looks.

Is this true? 2026 Durango RT/392 and Hellcat not available in many states?

Used to buy nothing but used vehicles, starting in '10 it's been ordered ones by a large margin. In some cases it was a "want it now" that prevented ordering, other times they couldn't be. For example, a '22 Challenger GT AWD in Hellraisin couldn't be ordered in '24. Found one with 178 miles on...

Is this true? 2026 Durango RT/392 and Hellcat not available in many states?

For me, photos are enough to decide on whether to buy or not. So far I haven't been disappointed. If anything, usually pleasantly surprised instead. Heck, my latest purchase I hadn't even seen photos of, and after being told I'd get $5K off if taking it "as is" I hooked up the trailer and drove...

That Continental has a good built in defense against tire goop is a big plus in my mind. I don't know of a single tire brand that doesn't recommend against slathering their sidewalls with something. And understandably so since the chemicals they've included in the rubber to help it stay...

    Tires

A tire durometer is fairly cheap, so you could check the tread hardness and decide that way, but it's fairly obvious when driving if the tires have become harder. With one exception, I can't even remember the last set of tires I replaced because of wear. They get replaced due to age, even...

Is this true? 2026 Durango RT/392 and Hellcat not available in many states?

These days you really can let your fingers do the walking. Doesn't much matter where the car is, and you can filter options, colors, etc. to keep the list of potential buys shorter. From there it's only a matter of calling and agreeing on a price, the rest can be handled via email and FedEx...

Durango Hellcat Owners, I need to know

Now I really don't understand why you wouldn't trust her with access to full power. In the car, that is.

Durango Hellcat Owners, I need to know

If so, a basic talk about cause and effect (as in output being proportional to pedal movement) might be a solution. It's not inherently unsafe to have extra power available, if anything I'd say it's the opposite. There's been times when I've saved my butt by flooring it and getting out of the...

Is this true? 2026 Durango RT/392 and Hellcat not available in many states?

People have started to broaden their horizons and shop out of state(s). I always do nationwide searches when looking for a specific vehicle. It's nice if there's one within 500 miles or so, making it only a 1-day trip, but a few have been bought from 1,000 to 1,600 miles away. Heck, since there...

    Tires

I had DWS06s on the Trackhawk and really liked them, also on a Golf R, and currently on the AWD Challengers. If Conti made them in the correct size, they'd be on the '19 Durango, too.

    Tires

True, if not exceeding, say 50 mph, just going slowly at city traffic speeds to a car show and such, the tires aren't likely to blow apart. Heck, I have 20+ year old radials on one vehicle, but it never leaves the property, or go faster than maybe 10 mph. On the other hand, I have photos of an...

    Tires

That's likely because people are smart enough to replace them before they start coming apart. Plus that most wear them out before they're six years old.

    Tires

I'm not overly concerned with the durometer values. If anything a harder compound makes it easier to go sideways. What I do not care for with elderly tires is their tendency to shred parts. The potential collateral damage to fenders etc. is what I want to avoid. Compared to that even the...
