More like it was more fun driving yourself. Hope autonomous driving doesn't take self driving away.
I know its been talked about many many times...but the minute you start taking the passion out of moving ourselves from point A to point B....your making a huge mistake in my estimation..from the 30's on...the auto industry thrived on the concept...autonomous driving???..when you judge the value..(not just the nickels and dimes)..the basic concept...and what its going to do to us as a society...look at public transportation of today...be it bus..subway..whatever...look at the faces..take a good look...no passion...not even a smile...from anyone..just a mundane zombie like existance...sorry..not for me..a major motorcycle manufacturer has a phrase...IT'S NOT THE DESTINATION...ITS THE JOURNEY....they get it

As long as it is big enough,, it could hit any where and they are going down. Back in WW2,, the big one of course. I hve talked to sum friends invited to the party and back then the ASP 45 auto was introduced. The shots were so hot that the bullet it self would penetrate the target and not a stoppage was had. So, they reintroduced the 22 cal to knock em down. What my war buddies told me, so,,, reintroducing a few calibers to the arsenals.
Never heard of an ASP (other than a suppressor).

Mr Hunter,
I will give you the ASP ect of the asp jacketing of the 1945 45 cal. Now, did you not understand the difference of conditions of why they diversified between the two different calibers?? From using a 45 pistol to a 22 caliber sum what called machine gun?? I have many boxes of 45's in which they are not in my residence, but locked up at Laurie's - one of my last homes, but I will be there today. when we ad a disagreement 90% of all my guns went to my gun dealers house in Seminole. I bought some from him and he has a great gun safe. 90% of my knifes went to my brothers in Atlanta in a A/C controlled storage, camera controlled room. Really do not know what is $$$ wise is the more. But I will get some pics of all. Most of the Glocks have never been fired and considered the class of the plastics collection. All from the 22, 9mm, 357, 40 cal, and up. When I finally move again in 3 months, I will have all these in 1 place. All of my guns got confiscated by the Pinellas County Police Dept for no particular reason, except I ownewned too many. Never heard of such a law. Unless you live in Ruby Ridge. I will forward the info when I get access to my ammo today.

@Hickster
What does ASP stand for?
As stated, never heard of it.
Aero Survival Pistol?
Suppressor?
Type of ammo?
Did you mean ACP?

Not that this thread was originally intended to be a pissing contest...

I challenge the vocal majority to produce proof their personal stock automatic car is quicker/faster than a stock stick car. Don't just sit behind your screen nutswingingly and appropriating a few other people's accomplishments in an attempt to pass them off as your own. Magazine and factory figures don't count - prove what have you actually done.

Put up or shut up.

I fully expect to see thousands of unique results... not dozens.

My quickest pass in my 15' Hellcat M6 (DA was around 3k-3,500):

My quickest pass in my 19' HC Redeye A8 (DA was 1900)

Now to be fair I had better DA with the Redeye. I think I could have possibly ran an 11.5x-11.6x in the M6 if I could have had the same DA. It was freak DA though. Our track sits at 2,350ft so we rarely see something like 1900 DA. Both cars are stock power, on same MT ET R tire. M6 had the barton shifter, and the Redeye has the factory rear seat delete. Besides DA being perfectly equal this is about the closest comparison I can make, same track. The fastest I've seen a Hellcat A8 run was 11.06, same day I ran my 10.46 in my Redeye. So on it's best day the M6 is around half a second or slower than an A8 Hellcat and over a second slower than a Redeye. I was by far the best M6 driver at the track too (That I have seen so far). Other M6 Hellcats couldn't break out of the 12s, some ran 13s. I took a 2nd place trophy home with my M6 bracket racing against all autos. I took a 1st place trophy in the Redeye.

IMO these cars were built for speed, and the A8 is the superior choice for that. I drive my A8 more, I just enjoy it more than my M6. Not just because manuals are slower in racing, but because I never cared for the bad 1-3 transmission gearing and the notchy shifting. My 05' Neon-SRT4 shifted like butter compared to the Hellcat M6. I loved that manual. The Hellcat manual just doesn't really feel like Dodge put much R&D into it like they did the A8.

Joke right?

I raced an M6 Challenger for 10 years. My buddy and I had similar builds done. Mine was an M6 his an Auto. We ran nearly identical MPH but his car was always a full 5/10 faster than mine in ET. Same day same track, a lot of times side by side. Not Hellcats, no, but same cars built almost the same. I even had a weight advantage. Both had built motors, superchargers, good tires, etc.

Now bring the M6 Hellcat with worse gearing in the manual than I had in my old car and bring on the A8 with its gear advantages and it's a no brainer.

I was OK with a half second difference back then for the fun I had on the street with the manual. I never cared for the NAG1. When the A8 came out it was a game changer. I'd never go back.

Just is what it is.

Tnx, real info.
On your comment 1-3 gearing on M6, do you mean the 1st to 2nd lockout that only occurs with such shifts if they occur, i think, between 19 and 21 mph?

No matter how good a shifter you may be, you cannot expect the stock M6 to run with an A8! The A8 has a 4.71 1st gear ratio and 1.60 millisecond shifts!

No, I am not joking. Park the fucking conjecture and anecdotal bullshit and prove it or it didn't happen.

The mechanical and technical advantages of the A8 or any automatic transmission aren't lost on me. All of my other toys are auto. What is also apparent to me is the distinct lack of talent in the driver's seats of A8 Hellcats. There are just so many videos of poorly piloted stock A8 HCs out there that it is painfully obvious the driver mod is fucking lacking hard around here. Which brings us all down. It is embarrassing.

So to sit here claiming A8 superiority without proof is complete and utter bullshit. Typical A8 drivers suck at driving in a performance scenario. The onus is now on them to prove me wrong.

Clear enough?

I think you could run a couple tenths faster if you didn’t granny shift that thing in 3rd and 4th?;) Can the clutch and drive train stand power shifts with keeping the gas pedal floored? I would probably break something if I had an M6!

Not sure @Speedy experience would be considered anecdotal. Case by case situations can differ with driver vs driver, etc? Where is your proof with a sample size large enough to prove anything? If I missed it then I apologize, but no need to be hostile towards other members' experiences. I think you will find there is no definitive answer because driver skill can vary case by case.

I agree, My M6 was the shittiest shifting stick trans I ever stirred. Felt like everything was made of rubber, springy. That 3-4 shift at red line always made me cringe. You couldn't tell if it was fully engaged in 4th or not half the time.

No, not really clear and I literally thought you were joking as you've proven yourself an educated individual. Find me one single case where an M6 Hellcat is faster than the A8 that isn't some odd ball comparison. I literally went from an M6 built/Supercharged Challenger to my A8 Hellcat, no practice no nothing and ran a 10.51 at 131MPH bone stock my second pass on a tire in the Hellcat A8. First time to the track. Hot lapped to a 10.59 I think. No practice no nothing. How hard is it LOL. My buddy put his wife in his and she ran a 10.7x. That's the thing with these A8 cars, they just work and you don't have to be John Force to get there. I had 10 YEARS of experience racing an M6 man, c'mon. Unlike most I post video of my successes (and failures).

I learned long ago that the M6 cars are technically limited. My data logs showed the throttle actually closes at every shift and I flat footed the accelerator. It's a built in thing as soon as the clutch goes in, throttle closes. Good luck overcoming that, not to mention all the other BS you have to deal with in an M6 like balancing on the clutch at the lights, hoping the diff, clutch, drive shaft, or trans doesn't explode when you launch, and watching the tach and the lights, not missing any gears, etc. My buddy Chad who was a die hard M6 guy threw in the towel at the end of the season when he saw me run 9s with minimal mods and he had everything and the kitchen sink and was running 10.1s in his M6 (awesome driver and a feat!). He put his M6 back to stock and has ordered an A8 Redeye.

I think you could run a couple tenths faster if you didn’t granny shift that thing in 3rd and 4th?;) Can the clutch and drive train stand power shifts with keeping the gas pedal floored? I would probably break something if I had an M6!

You have a good sense of humor! I wasn’t sure how you’d take that. I guess the clutch/throttle thing is a good thing to have with a supercharged car! I missed my share of gears in my time...even with a pro-shifted Doug Nash Hemi 4 speed with a Verti-Gate shifter and a .750 lift roller crammed big block. Luckily never broke anything at the time. It’s good that our 6.2 SC motors have those built-in safety things to keep from over revving.
