Pulled the wheels and cleaned the inside of the rims and the wheel wells today. Whoever put these brake pads on this thing needs to be sent to prison in a white prom dress !
I need to upgrade to Z26 pads.

After the 204.980 1.5mi run, the rotors had some color (OEM Brembos). And I am very gentle on the brakes, as much as possible.

The short, short, SHORT version is that I bought Demon Performance rotors to replace the roached OE rotors, saw a big improvement (along with the lighter wheels and tires that I also bought) and thought that I could do MUCH better than the DP rotors for weight reduction...

(Which while they are a decent rotor, but I ended up cracking one with only street driving, which they happily replaced no questions asked...)

Exactly why I did a DCS2 instead of aftermarket! Easy, though expensive, but my car still runs like a champ! It was a risk vs. reward decision.

I have very high risk tolerance, but that ended when I witnessed multiple modded RE's meltdown. Absolutely horrible to see, feel awful for what these guys went through, and it scared the crap out of me!

I don't like the way either set of those rotor's look TBH. I have a lot of material left on my pads, so i better get used to cleaning dust for a while. Guess next bad weather day might as well put this thing on stands an see what else under there needs cleaning.

I ordered a 1-2 will check rotors, go from there. Car had new pads when i got it, who knows what kind. Most likely cheapest ones they could find. Will pull a pad and see if i can tell what brand they are. Don't race, so would like go with something that has less dust and less wear on rotors.

Z26s are great for daily driving, if you go with them, bed them twice

My dad bought a T/A this summer and we put the z26's on it. The stock brakes were way to grippy for him. He likes the z26s much better

This is a very complex question. I have seen aftermarket tunes do amazing things. On the other hand, I have also watched not one, but TWO RE's melt down before my eyes. One at land speed trials, one at the dragway. Absolutely heart wrenching.

The only prob I have heard about the S2 is clutch pulley failure. That car was was tracked so there was a lot of on-off WOT for a long time.

I seriously considered Jon, but witnessing the catastrophes scared the carp out of me. Also but important, an aftermarket tune usually involves data logging runs and installing new tunes to optimize. This is absolutely great for a racer, but I am old, tired (lazy), and opportunities to datalog 1.5mi WOT runs is very infrequent. The S2 was fine for me.

The S2 seems to be stable at the dragway and land speed trials, and performed better than expected in the 1.5mi. The warranty is a plus.

Finally got around to pulling a few plugs this morning. I had expected them to be black, i get a lot of soot on the rear of the car and the exhaust pipes are black. I have never seen this car smoke and it has not used a drop of oil in 4k miles. Much to my surprise the plugs look great. Now i am thinking what i see on the back of the car may be brake dust.
