I was reading that 170s aren’t built to handle the Texas mile or other events. Very interesting. Truly a 1/4 mile purpose built machine

Looks amazing. Noticed they kept the electronic suspension. Would have been great if they moved to a click adjustable like Menscer or Keltrac.

I think the KISS methodology applies here. Your average buyer couldn't figure out a manually adjustable suspension. This allows just clicking the "DRAG" button on the screen and it sets pretty much everything up for you. Pros and cons for sure.

I think this is true. Rumor is the 170 is electronically speed limited to 149mph (but maybe can go faster for a couple seconds). Who knows.

What I do know is that standing mile events are super hard on cars, especially ones shaped like the Challenger. 200mph crushes in front bumper covers, rips off lower air dams, and that big hood scoop becomes a wind sail and can lift/bend the hood or worse.

When I pit crewed on my buddies 200mph Challenger a few years ago we wrapped the whole front end with plastic. Then you had to deal with the heat because the radiator was blocked, and the scuffed paint from spots that came loose and flapped in the wind at 200mph. Not to mention all the engines he went through.

Not something I'd wanna put my Demon through.

Isn't the speed limiter removed in drag mode? If not then that 149 might be an issue in 1/4 mile..

The "rumor" is that in drag mode it'll let you exceed 149mph "briefly". A couple folks have already hit 150-151mph with their personal cars. Dodge's best was 151.17 so it's not gonna go much faster than that in the 1/4 mile.

Once I get some equipment I can get the tune to review and make some logs with mine to see what's what.

An insider buddy of mine got me a copy of my actual invoice. I was curious how much the dealer's make on these cars. I was surprised it's actually not that much relatively speaking. Probably $7K total give or take. It's about $4K on the sale and there's 3% "holdback". I was expecting it to be $10K plus.

He said the higher the model the less profit margin there actually is, so a Scat Pack makes as much or more.

Don't forget advertising money, volume kickback.

They probably have a Hornet dealer rebate for so many of them they sell on each unit that the dealer sells. If Stellantis still does that.

None of that is reflected on my invoice so can't speculate on any of that.

That's because those numbers vary depending on different factors.

Does the invoice have an EP price?

I imagine they restricted EP for the D170 and it doesn’t qualify. But even so, good luck finding a dealer that would sell one at EP if it was allowed.

I was curious if they even offered it to their employees. Most likely not, in my opinion.

There's a ton of variables, many of which are tied to overall sales $$, number of units sold, model specific incentives/kickbacks etc. etc. Some of this is calculated & sent to the dealer monthly, quarterly and annually. Hard to tie much of it back to a specific car, so 'invoice' isn't really the true 'cost'. But, I'm guessing most here already know that ;)

I think a very large portion of a dealer's income is generated through service, body shop and the parts counter.

It’s all through service. Look at the parts price and $175 an hour labor lol

Factory vs non factory aside ( to avoid an endless argument )

If someone wants to go faster ( MPH ) for some reason ?!?!
I think it would be achievable

Change the tires
Tweak the tune ( limiter )
Run gas not alcohol
I m not confident with the factory tires or the fuel system on alcohol past 150 ish
But I am confident the car can easily go over 150 with a few minor changes

I m surprised no one has posted some experiments / testing of this nature to date

Very few are going to crack into the pcm and give up their warranty. Its like a chastity belt

something I never thought much of. When I ordered my 13 mustang I knew before I got the car it would have a supercharger on it. Delivered in August of 12 and remained stock for the next few months and parked for the winter. Car came out of garage in the spring with a supercharger and new suspension on it. I'm not waiting 3 years for the warranty to end then really enjoy my car. That was the 1st new car I had ever bought

For my hellcat they asked if I wanted the extended warranty
I asked if they had a 10 year 10K option LOLOLOLOLOL
I told the salesman I ll never hit 60K in 20 years
