I actually did. The only reason the snow blower was used that day was to pull out the little tractor...used because there really wasn't enough snow.
With R4 tires, that tractor has less traction than the Challenger on its UHP summer tires.
But in a way, making that snow blower setup has worked...
That's a good point, Jungle Cat. Since I'm more interested in handling than pure acceleration, getting better weight distribution is a good thing.
But even though it's in the correct place, it still bugs me that I'm hauling useless weight around.
Just cleaning off the tire machine afterwards is no fun, but to then also have to get the goop out of the tire to be able to repair it is a bit of a chore.
I wouldn't be surprised if tire stores charge extra for doing it.
By the way, mine came with the (to me) useless HK system, too, and it's...
Would you believe that they didn't have power steering? Or that it definitely wasn't needed?
Not even after putting wider 10-inch diameter Mini wheels on them, to be able to fit wider tires.
Maybe the best part was that once lowered (almost a necessity with the swing axle rear) they would...
Oh, oh, I'm in trouble. First and foremost, I don't have A/C. Also, the garage doesn't get that hot.
I guess I could start the Hellcat once a day and get it up to 75 in the summer that way. But what do I do in the winter?? Leave it running, or let it suffer at 60 degrees?
Yes, that oil eventually drains down is a fact. But so is that cold starts create wear (up to 80% if memory serves me), and that not getting the engine up to temp creates other problems.
Which is why I prefer to not start mine, but prime the oiling system by cranking the engine before starting...
The drawbacks with cold starting unfortunately aren't just opinions.
And for that initial start in the spring, there's a simple procedure for cranking the engine without it starting, which solves the oil pressure/film issue.
Agree. Since the engine doesn't know or care how long it's been sitting, I can't see any reason to cold start it any more than necessary.
Heck, I couldn't be that cruel even to a rental car.
If I needed/wanted wet traction, I'd look at the Continental DW. At least the first generation performed very well on a wet test track.
Based on that experience I had them on one small and quick sports car, and a VW Golf R. Not that either one was ever driven in rain.
I've been working on making CF members aware of what might happen if they do, including an administrator or two. Not that I know if it'll help, but I have to try.
That I brought up what happened with the Hellcat forum just may have planted a seed.
Steelsoldiers and CumminsForum for me.
As far as looks and familiarity goes, I really like CumminsForum, even though it's lacking a bit.
Having only "Like" and "Thanks" to choose from would be my main gripe.
I'm still getting used to HellcatForum, but to say that it's an improvement over what...
