I must admit that I don't even have "stock power" in my 3500. It's a cab and chassis, so it's down rated even compared to a standard output engine.
Then again, the highest total weight it has had to deal with so far here in the Rockies was 39,000 lbs.
Apparently they're reliable enough to go some 450,000+ miles with just basic fluid changes.
And that's with CVW up to the 40,000 lb. range. I think that's good enough.
Although, some do complain about how they shift. Those "some" are the ones who use a diesel pickup with the Aisin as a car...
Funny that you mention luxury being useful, and on bad roads.
Yesterday I helped my girlfriend add another slow 20 miles on her new car, to break the gears in. In normal fashion, we do that on our "home" road, which has very little traffic (especially before tourist season kicks in), but the...
I have no use for "luxury". I prefer function and simplicity. Which is hard to come by these days.
TRX most fun? Yeah, it definitely is. But fastest?!? That's the one thing I hate about it....when you go to pass someone the damn thing cuts out at a measly 118 mph. Blasphemy.
Stop light to...
I would imagine that there's some sort of Nissan or Toyota pickup that can approach those mileage numbers,
but much like I didn't buy a V6 Challenger (oh, wait, I did get one of those turds, too) I didn't get a TRX to get some kind of good mileage.
It gets me up to 15, maybe 16, the way I drive...
Generally I like Granite in order to stay below the radar as much as possible, figuratively and literally, but with a pickup I figured it'd mix in better being white.
And so far it seems to have worked. Of course, I've done a few things to make it look less than a TRX and more like a Rebel.
They are. And with a painfully low payload.
Against better knowledge, I even tried towing with it. Predictably, not a pleasant experience even though it was only an empty little 16-foot flatbed.
Neither do I, as you could tell by the photo above. Instead I have a 9-foot flatbed on my 3500.
And let's not mention the minuscule "beds" on the TRXs. On those you kinda need four doors, to be able to put stuff somewhere.
Plenty of leg room, actually. The doors on the 2-doors are longer than on the multi-door pickups, so the cab is longer than you may think.
Also, there are no pesky passengers back there who can whine about the front seat being too far back.
Yep, I like small butts.
Found a pic of the 2-door. Only had that one for about 1,000 miles.
Yes, it came with a bed on it, but that had two big red taillights on it, so I took it off.
Those are hard to find in normal 2-door style. Last one I had, an '18, I had to order.
Of course, I generally order vehicles anyway, but that one was a must.
