EV Sales Are Just Getting Started?

And as usual, there's more. This is not only on the internet, but on You Tube, so it must be really, really true. "Well a massive scandal over Government subsidies and EV efficiency just came out. Don’t know much details other than it has to do with a fake multiplier the Government used to...

EV Sales Are Just Getting Started?

I'm not about to get a hybrid. At least not as long as there's something available that is gas or diesel powered. Even if it means getting another Class 8 tractor. Aside from the potential fire risks, I'm one of those who push a vehicle (if possible) or pull it with another one rather than...

EV Sales Are Just Getting Started?

I think the main difference here is that regular vehicles don't tend to start burning while parked. I'm sure it does happen on occasion, but EVs certainly seems to have the market cornered when it comes to spontaneous combustion. But hybrids also wants a piece of the action, as evidenced by...

EV Sales Are Just Getting Started?

But wait...there's more. "There are other ways to mitigate the situation as well. EV owners can decrease their use of the standard heater by dressing warmly, letting the car warm up by starting it up while it is still charged, and using seat warmers. AAA found that electric vehicles only lost...

EV Sales Are Just Getting Started?

I should probably admit that I have an EV of sorts. It's a John Deere eGator which appealed to me at the time since it only cost $1,600. It never leaves the property, and its biggest advantage is that it's really good for shooting prairie dogs from, being very quiet. At times I use it as a...

EV Sales Are Just Getting Started?

I knew they didn't like cold or hot weather, but it looks like it's worse than I thought. "So does cold weather affect EV charging? Yes, but why is that the case? In short, cold temperatures slow down the chemical process of battery charging and cause deposits of lithium to build upon key...

EV Sales Are Just Getting Started?

They installed a charging station quite close to here. Apparently it's not hooked up to any electricity, but that may not matter much since the access to it wasn't plowed. And even if it was hooked up and accessible, at -22 like it was the other day it's highly doubtful than any tourist...

EV Sales Are Just Getting Started?

So those Tesla owners were just hanging out at the charging station for fun? The 10% off MSRP applies to most Stellantis vehicles. Including the Ram 3500 we bought recently.

    Towing recommendations

I ordered the 3.73s for my 3500 DRW and like them a lot. They keep the engine at about 2,000 rpm at 80, which is my preferred speed where the curves allow it. The downside is that they drop the stated max tow capacity to 18,010 lbs. With 4.10s it would've been 23,010.

    Towing recommendations

Well, until recently my girlfriend towed with a gasser and it did quite well. Of course, it was a Ram 3500 crew cab longbed with the 6.4, so a bit more meaningful than any 1500. With 4.10 gears it did fine in the hills, and got decent mileage. Better than expected. She'd never tow with...

Probably from about 40K to near 140K. How long is a piece of rope?

Did that 400 foot one sink into the swamp?

As noted above, a good WD hitch would solve the sagging, and has other advantages that different springs or air springs could never match, due to simple physics. Also, weight can certainly be an issue, but one notable drawback with an enclosed trailer is the parachute effect. It wouldn't matter...

    2025 Charger

It is quite fitting to call an EV "Charger", isn't it? Even though it needs one more so than is one.

UPDATE - Found a Cat trailer that looks pretty good, is there anything I’m missing?

I think that what 2ndAmend is looking at are those unplanned and abrupt stops. If just towing at a stead pace, tie downs wouldn't even be needed. Well, for me they still would because of how I go trough curves. I tend to "over-tie" the rear because it'd be bad enough to have the front of the...

UPDATE - Found a Cat trailer that looks pretty good, is there anything I’m missing?

That is the ideal tie-down method, I think. Have that setup in the toy hauler, but not on the flatbeds.

UPDATE - Found a Cat trailer that looks pretty good, is there anything I’m missing?

Nothing. We have clean air here, and no hurricanes or alligators. But I do know that stuff needs to be tied down when feces hits the fan. Either way, crossing the straps is not a good idea. I used to do it at the back of my Jeep before I knew better.

UPDATE - Found a Cat trailer that looks pretty good, is there anything I’m missing?

What about when the next hurricane comes by? Then you may want those straps to be pristine, so you can open all those doors and run two straps from one side to the other to something solid at ground level.
