Out of Warranty oil change intervals

Did you notice that I wrote "...sent samples to a good lab..."? Didn't want to bring it up, but especially those who short trip their cars probably shouldn't use Blackstone. Instead, use one that actually tests for fuel dilution. Although, now that you live in Texas the oil probably never...

Out of Warranty oil change intervals

Warranty? Okay, I didn't void it by doing the first change at about 500 miles, but after that... Normally I do the change in the late fall, then it's ready to go in the spring. Except for the year I forgot and both ended up with exactly two years on the oil. Sent samples to a good lab, then had...

Dug a little deeper. Looks like orders placed before 8-13 could have had the V6, which would explain why it showed up in the sales codes. And supposedly the 392 can be ordered later this year at some point.

    New Muscle Announced 8/8/2025?

Umm, since getting my first car. And with the 'Cat I noticed that the oil gets plenty warm when sitting in stop and go traffic - something it got subjected to once due to roadwork. And in the same town that has our nearest stoplights.

    New Muscle Announced 8/8/2025?

Okay, so I'm a no-brainer. But if a 5.7 is adequate for pulling a loaded trailer (which mine never ever will), it should be okay when not burdened with towing. Basically, I didn't want another V6, saw no reason for getting the 6.4, and definitely didn't want a 6.2. I've looked at used cop cars...

To me it feels better to drive to town, which is a mere 10 miles away, with a smaller engine. It has a fighting chance to get the oil up to temp during a 10+10 mile drive. Don't know about a 6.4, but with a 6.2 it can be near impossible to get the oil warm in such a short distance.

It's a friggin' beater car, Eric. A 5.7 is enough for it. Heck, if the '19 didn't have to drag a useless 3rd row seat, towing package, and heavy leather seats around, the V6 might have been good enough.

    New Muscle Announced 8/8/2025?

No, it was surprisingly easy. I have no need for more than what the 5.7 puts out. I like the V6, and it's fine in the Challenger, but the Durango is just too heavy for it, especially at altitude.

That was quick. Already have the VON and VIN. Hope the production and delivery will also be. Or at least quicker than the four months it took for the '19 Redeye to make it to the dealer after it was built.

Yup, not buying another V6. I'd just keep the one I have. Might start the buying process for a GT AWD 5.7 later today, at right about $40K. (MSRP $44,490).

Wonder why they'd abandon such a well selling engine? Makes no sense whatsoever.

Had a '23 Durango Hellcat that I never drove, now a '19 V6 that I like. With some luck the 5.7 will be just right.

All-new 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack

Refresh my memory, please. Was that for your tractor or the Challenger?

    New Muscle Announced 8/8/2025?

Got the sales codes for the '26 Durango today, which helped make my decide on the engine. While the V6 is alive and well for '26 (contrary to what some have claimed) I want a V8 now, 5.7 or 6.4. Well, as of today it's either V6, 5.7, or 6.2. Made that choice easy, and I had pretty much decided...

You mean like 707 hp in my Challenger vs. 710 in the Durango? But yes, people have been breaking Trackhawk transfer cases, and they're lighter than the Durango.

I sold my '23 shortly after buying it. Not that I'd care either way, if people can buy 'Cats for less, more power to them. So to speak. Damn, just as I started thinking about doing a Build and Price on a V6 Durango. Might as well get the R/T then...if they are available with AWD.

    New Muscle Announced 8/8/2025?

Looks like the Durango SRT is quite a bit less than it was in '23.

    New Muscle Announced 8/8/2025?

Sorry, but to me a Hurricane engine will always be the 134 c.i. F4. The one that necessitated the bulging hoods on Jeeps in '54 and ruined Jeeps' looks forever. With their naming of later vehicle models it would've been more appropriate if they had used the name of its predecessor, the Go Devil...

Even if it's an EV that has a self contained energy source stacked in the trunk, code named Plywood?
