What is your definition of stock?

So I am wondering what the general consensus is for definition of stock when discussing our cars - not just Hellcats, but any performance Challenger or Charger (SRT, Scat Pak, Hellcat, Demon, or Redeye - to name a few)
What would you consider stock ?
As factory delivered (down to tires and as built weight)?
A catch can?
Drive shaft?
Axles?
Removal of Clutch delay valve, clutch change, or auto trans tweeks?
Shifter? Barton shifter(?)
Airbox?
Tune?

I am curious where you would draw the line - since I didn't see anyone giving any answers doing a quick search of the site...

I think "stock" can be various..for example.."stock" for a car show would be different than "stock" in a race event.

I would say anything more than a catch can you’ll have someone claim it’s “not stock” ... CAI not stock, better tires not stock.. can you hear them? Haha

Yea, I remember answering to the same question already.

But hey, I'll contribute again. Stock (to me) is rolling right off the show room floor with options as listed on the windshield sticker. Anything that you do to the car that's not listed on that windshield sticker, is a "mod" and no longer stock.

From my experience, dealerships are cool with "tasteful" mods, like tint, rock guards, clear bra, and the likes. It's because they can potentially charge extra when you trade your vehicle back to them.

Heavily modified and might raise eyebrows from dealers. To me, that means messing with the engine (CAI, tune, pulley, etc.), chassis of the car (Driveshaft, springs, bags, etc.), and big wheels/DR tires. Not sure about catch can...but I don't think something that catches oil will void a warranty.

What about changing tire brand to other than stock? All season to summer tires?

Tires offered by FCA as options are stock. drag radials are not.

So your limited to Pirelli only? Most shows I attend as stock, don't consider consumables like tires, most even allow one mod like muffler, catch can, etc. So there is a great variation of what might be "stock"

When you start making exceptions, then it has no stopping point. Just like the Houston Astro's cheating by stealing signs, and winning the 2017 world series. Did the sign stealing enable them to win. or would they have won without stealing signs? know one will ever know!

NHRA is a whole different matter from street. and street records. by factory cars!. Factory weight and power = stock. Maybe! NO NOS. and many other things.

And for those that like to quote the above NHRA stock rules. They are correct! BUT for competition between like vehicles on a NHRA track. This would not hold true for comparing time slips with a Factory Virgin car, run by the MFG to set the Factory delivered record. You cant compare apples to oranges. unless your a politician.
