Ok,
I'm sure it's been talked about in here but I suck at searching and would rather just talk about it. There is only so many things to talk about with our SRT's so I'm just gonna ask my questions if that is ok.

Do you have to pay attention to load rating? What load rating are you supposed to use? I assume XL ? I never had to deal with this so I'm new on load ratings.

Ultra High performance tires All seasons , I know the usual Pilot Sport and DWS-06 Plus but is there a forum favorite here ? I'm not concerned about saving a buck but I'd like to explore the best overall Ultra high performance All season tires for the SRT.

I currently have Toyo Proxies on it and I looked them up and they are absolutely not the best choice, they are fine as they corner good, they hook well, they ride well and stop well. Nothing sticks out as poor or exceptional. I prefer exceptional tires as this is the one thing that meets the road, the only thing.

Thanks in advance, lets get into tires unless someone wants to point me to a good thread that's been all over this.

We have a DSRT, and recently replaced the tires.

While it's constantly getting better, there isn't many options in the stock size, and the wife wanted to retain the "run-flat" option, which meant we went with the OEM tires.

We did notice that the replacements were notably quieter than what came on the vehicle despite being the same tires.

Thanks man. The Run flats are a heavier tire than most. But they are supposed to be pretty good all around tires from what I have read so far.

The OEM run flats are “pretty good”? For what? For Dodge to have made even a bigger profit on what they charged me for this rig, because they probably gave Pirelli dog shit $$$ for this junk.

They are going last 25,000. After I pull off one more MN-Colorado and back along with about 85% highway miles on this beautiful rig, those heavy run flats can bite me. I’ll need some tires within the next month.

NEVER, NEVER again heavy run flats, and NEVER, NEVER will buy Pirelli tires EVER! That is the same shit they have on our Challengers that we hate and change instantly.

THIS WITH A 45,000 thread wear warranty will be my selection, done deal and I could give a shit what they cost. My Challenger only wears Michelins and I cannot be more happy continuing with that brand.

Did some other homework. The Michelins are 6 lb lighter each along with the warranty that will assure I get nearly 20,000 more miles than what these OEM’s did.

The Michelins also have real fancy construction and stick better in the winter. We have used Michelins on our eight Jeep Grands over the years. NEVER EVER seen crap go bye-bye so soon. That is why I am pissed off, this afternoon.

MY MAN!!!! Sorry you're angry but in your venting , you said some magic words, 6lbs lighter. As a Former Scat pack owner, this meant everything to me. I went with the Continental DWS-06 Plus tires which where also lighter then stock and way better in all conditions.

I had Pilot Sports on the Audi S4 and they where very good BUT the Continental DWS-06 tires we put on it after the Pilot Sports had a better ride, didn't give up anything in handling or dry traction plus in weather they where better like light snow and any kind of rain.

I know your brand loyal to the Michelins but at least check out the DWS-06 Plus tires before you grab the Pilot Sports. Both tires are top of the class.

We bought a BMW for my wife...the tire noise from them was unbearable..(especially on the interstate)..got rid of the run flats in less than a month

I generally never log enough miles for tires to be a concern

That's why I was pissed when getting two year old tires from Tire Rack.

For now the ones from '18 are still on there, until I get around to find fresh tires for the Challenger.

Thanks. Appreciate the heads up. I was floored by the cost of these things today no matter what the brand. They told me last month my tires were down to 4/32. Today as I was polishing and getting ready for the trip, yep they are toast. Wearing even is the good part of this. The literature on the PS4 AS cold weather tolerance and performance is too convincing for a guy who needs to drive in MN in the winter, and has been more than impressed with their high performance summer and track tires. Michelin for the win 4me.

I have a question about tire integrity..and age...I put new skins and wheels on my 16 HC 3 months from new...have put "maybe" 1700 miles on them...(but they are now 9 years old)....always stored @ 65 degrees..and 50% humidity..unless in use...I've never heard of a tire failure due to age....what am I missing...if anything...

Compared to days of old, tires, especially "performance" tires, are made of rubber compounds that get REALLY hard with time, starting at about 5 years, but by 10 years old, they are hard as polyurethane skate board wheels.

I've got a pair of PS4Ss that literally have gained 20 points on the durometer scale.

They still "function" for basic city driving, but they have lost most of their grip.

Very sad because they have most of their tread depth, but are useless for the track and absolutely have to be replaced before my next track day.

This is why some tire shops wont touch tires older than 10years, they claim they can be dangerous to handle due to the rubber compound being "hard".

I'm not overly concerned with the durometer values. If anything a harder compound makes it easier to go sideways.

What I do not care for with elderly tires is their tendency to shred parts. The potential collateral damage to fenders etc. is what I want to avoid. Compared to that even the priciest Michelins are quite affordable.

I dont think I've ever seen the decomposition of a modern day tire on a performance car

Wish Mickey Thompson et street Rs would last more than 30 burnouts and 1/4 mile passes though for 400+ a tire
