I appreciate the responses and the humor. I think it’s safe to say I’m off the ledge. As I parked the truck today in the garage next to the Hellcat I just laughed at myself. A new truck would be fun, but not for the price of admission.

That sounds like an easy decision - you trade and then get what out of it? If you have lots of miles on both then there might something there, but if you have both paid off and you end up with a two for one sort of trade I don't see the benefit. What will you have after the trade vs what you have right now? A truck (nope - got one), a car (nope - you won't have one anymore), a payment you can't afford (you would have to decide).
I am sure there are other things to weight, but it doesn't seem to work from what I see...
Both the Hellcat (10,000 miles) and the Power Wagon (61,500 miles) are paid for. Doing the two for one avoided the payment, but I’d rather keep what I have in the garage.

The one I drove was a Lariat with the 7.3L Gas. Pretty much every option box checked. I don’t want a diesel.

...I don’t want a diesel.

Ok, now see, now we're getting somewhere. I can fully respect not wanting a diesel, while I don't want one either, I probably need one.

BUT, if you don't want a diesel, what was the attraction in this particular model???

I'm not a fan of Fords myself, but that was the only thing about this that made me even look in the first place. A "Power Wagon" class truck, but with diesel level pulling power (obviously).

If you put a gas motor in it, aren't you right back to what you've got now???

The Tremor is arguably a better truck for everyday. It’s capable offroad but maybe not as capable as the Power Wagon. I’d say the Ford is better in every other way.
The new 7.3 hasn’t impressed me yet.

My Power Wagon is a 2012 with the 5.7L Hemi mated to 4.56 gears. The biggest complaint I have with my truck is the interior. Ram upgraded the interior in 2013, so my interior is pretty dated. The new Super Duty Tremor in the trim I drove was really nice. Not 2020 Ram with the 50” flatscreen nice, but still very comfortable. The 7.3L mated to 4.30 gears and the 10spd auto handled nice, shifted smoothly, and delivered the power with ease.

I’ll be honest, I don’t need a new truck, but I love to look. I’m not in love with the refreshed Ram HD grill, so I looked at Ford. If was was to go the Super Duty route, it would be the Tremor.

That said, what I really want to see is the Ram Rebel TRX. If Ram has the balls to offer a truck even close to what they showed in Texas with the concept, it’s going to be special. If Ram half-asses it, it’s going to be a huge flop!

I didn't realize you were in a 5.7L

Ok, so the new truck does have some appeal then, but I still say you'll hate yourself in the morning if you give up the HC, worse than waking up beside of coyote-bait...

BIG, UGLY, INFESTED COYOTE-BAIT...

...worse...

Just remember that...

I get bored with cars pretty easily. I think you've gotten good advice, but if you really want the truck and can figure out a way to do it financially I would go for it. I miss my Hellcat, but really like the supercharged Boss 302 I now have for different reasons. I'm looking for a replacement Hellcat but still need to convince myself I need both cars before I take the plunge again. You at least are thinking about going in the opposite direction and consolidating. You probably will regret getting rid of the Hellcat, but the good thing is if you did there are a lot of them out there if you wanted another one at some point.

LOL!

I actually just went and sat in the Hellcat for a few minutes. The car still smells new inside. It was fun to think about something new, but I can’t walk away from the car.

Just drive the Hellcat every day and ditch the rest! Enjoy it!

Trucks are so overrated to me, not a very enjoyable driving experience - and what's the point of a diesel if you do not tow?

Depending on what he wants the Tremor for... the 7.3 gasser could certainly be the better choice.

Not everyone needs a mountain of torque. This truck isn't intended to tow SUPER HEAVY ... so having 1/2 of the torque (literally) is fine, the gearing helps. The Tremor is only rated to tow 15,000 lbs conventionally... so paying $9k for the 6.7 diesel is a hard pill to swallow when you're only towing what the V6 handles in the 1/2 ton market. If you're using a 5th wheel or gooseneck - good luck, the truck sits too high for your trailer  ... regardless, the FORD pulls TWICE as much as the RAM and has 3X the PAYLOAD...

The overhead on a diesel is usually overlooked because of the power (and sometimes MPG) ... but the overhead is significant. Gassers have their place... and when you're looking for an offroad truck - gas is where it's at. The nose of the beast is over 500lbs lighter when you go with the 7.3 I think.

FWIW - I have a diesel and a heavy brick of a trailer I pull, and I would never seriously consider a gas motor for my application. If I was to take the Tremor seriously, I'd need to consider that it's too tall for most 5th wheel campers, and I'd be stuck with 15k towing regardless... and the 7.3 would be fine with that. I'd absolutely take a Tremor over a Power Wagon, $0.02.
