I traded a 19 Hellcat on a 19 Redeye with the 3:09 gear and would not ever have the 2:62 gear again.Around town it is the perfect gear.

Agreed, around town, 3.09s feel great. I ran them for a year, then I got tired of smoking the tires everytime I wanted to play a little, spinning ain't winning. Went back to 2.62 again and it immediately felt like I had a stickier tire under the car.

My REWB came with 2.62's. I've recently switched to the 3.09's and unless something serious changes I won't be switching back. I do run DR's as my regular tire though for what that's worth.

For around town fun driving can't go wrong with 3.09 but for the drag strip 2.62s make it easier to launch.

This 2.62 talk is heresy!

4.74 x 2.62 = 12.42:1, or 4.74 x 3.09 = 14.65:1

Get those 3.09s and launch in 2nd.
3.143 x 3.09 = 9.712:1
Or just a 30" tall tire and leave in first.

I find it interesting that there is a hang-up on the M6 cars gearing being too long. 2.26 x 3.70 = 8.36:1... still looking at a 3.90 gear set to bring that up to a steep 8.814:1 - hnnng!

Looks like I might have made a mistake.

I thought I built a 2020 on Dodge.com, but it must have been a 2019. 2019 has the 3.09 gear ratio option on the site, 2020 doesn't show it available... Maybe I won't have a choice in the matter.

Just placed the order at the dealer. 3.09 gears ARE a selectable option, it's just not showing on Dodge.com website for some reason.

And I did selected that option. Thank you all for your input!

I don't go to the drag strip but I do rollrace some and general hooning around. I'm thinking the 2.62 ratio is the one I should choose, BUT I'd like some input anyway.

Is the 3.09 a "must have" or will I be happier with the 2.62?
I went with 2.62 because 1st gear is insanely low already on this platform. I can't get any traction now, so the last thing this car needs is more gear IMO. Hell I've got my best 0-60 starting off in 2nd.

And, I like a LAZY 8th gear for cruising. Before I ordered the RE I did a little test with my HC. On the freeway I dropped it down to 7th at 80 mph (my normal cruising speed) , which is about equivalent to what at 3:09 would be in 8th. Didn't really care for it. Now there are those that love the 3.09. it's really personal preference and your driving style.

I know what you mean. I like cruising in 8th with the 3:09! They have so much torque it is stupid for the street.

I guess it really depends on how you mostly use your car. I mostly take day trips with my wife or go to car shows. I love the fact that I can cruise at 80 mph at 1700 rpms with my 2.62s. My old srt had 3.07s I think. and at I was over 2k at 70 mph. Ididnt care for that at all. As others have said most that drag race these cars run better ets with 2.62 gears.

With the way the car overwhelms the rear tires with the 2.62 I can’t see the need for 3.09. I’ve almost put car in people’s front yards with a low roll punch. 3.09 I may have hit the house.
