Sorry for the ignorant question:

What do you need to do differently with a LIon battery to maintain it? Do you use the same charger? Same float/trickle charger? Is it ok to leave the float charger on all winter?

There are Lithium-specific chargers/tenders that you should use. If the battery has its own BMS circuit then a standard charger/maintainer should suffice.

My Walmart battery is going strong. Battery has been disconnected for over a month. Car sits all the time. Not a bad replacement

Good thread to keep going. Since my dad bought a T/A he wants it faster. Looking through here on batteries and going on amazon and it looks like a lot more options and cheaper prices. Could barely get one under $400 a few years ago

@Taxinator posted the battery he bought and @catdad @DGatzby and is still under $270 Stock demensions and weighs 20 lbs. The Stock battery is 44 lbs.

I might have to get one to offset the additional weight of going from et street fronts to sportsman's

I wouldn't touch any LiFePO4 battery without first witnessing a teardown video showing it actually has a BMS circuit.
PowerTex claims to have a BMS but do /not/.

* This season - zero maintenance and great performance.

Really can notice the weight off the rear right, it rips the starter each time with authority, never all season even after sitting two weeks or so didn’t ever say it did not have enough power for cool down.

Glad I purchased it, now enjoying it, never worried a minute about a problem myself.

I weighed it out at 17 lbs.

Was thinking the extra weight of the stock battery would be better than losing that weight of the right rear tire...
