My 2010 Challenger that i purchased from my brother in law make a knocking noise when driving on a rough road. Also noisy when running over manhole cover or bump in the road. I purchased the car from him with only 22K miles on it. I bought it from him because I know he babied the car to the extreme. Always garage kept and never spun the tires. I took car to dealer to check the noise and they said everything looked fine. The replaced both the front and rear end links (both sides) and stabilizer bar. Also replaced both front end tension bars and sway bar bushings.
Still makes noise when traveling on rough roads. Took back to dealer and they say everything's fine even after road testing.
Don't know what to do. Did anyone have this problem? Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Can you narrow this down at all?

Is it a rattle type of noise like exhaust banging around.

Is it cyclical?

Does it change with speed of the car?

Does it change with engine speed?

Have you had it up on jackstands and been underneath it to inspect parts yourself?

You said it's been babied, but is there any rust underneath?

Welcome to Hellcat Nation & congrats on the SRT.

If it's just knocking when hitting bumps & not on smooth roads ?
Then something is loose, if the dealer checked out all of the suspension good ?
Then check that the lug nuts are tight ?
Check glove box, console & trunk, that stuff you have in there is not bouncing around & making noise ?

Good Luck !

Sounds like what happened with our '13 Charger. It made a clunking noise when it was 4 years old going over bumps. It was the front strut.
I also had the same noise with my '03 Evo. I replaced the front strut twice on that car, same side.

You would think the dealer would check or find that after 2 trips there ?
But you never know with the dealer ?

So true, I hate taking any of my cars to the dealer. And don't if I can help it.

A bad strut sounds like something loose in the suspension

Even though they may never return, check motor mounts as well, they don't last forever.

Motor mounts wont make the described noise over road bumps normally. That's more of accel/decel type of movement. I second the strut/shock idea. Dealer service is more a GP doctor whereas a front end shop is your ENT specialist. In other words go to someone who's job is primarily suspensions and you will find ur answer.

Checked underneath and everything looks good and solid. Does anyone recommend a service center that you trust is Hunterdon, Somerset Counties in NJ?

I noticed my 2009 SRT Challenger had a hollow popping noise when going over bumps in the front. Only when the bumps were sharp and on one side, not both. I installed a front strut brace which eliminated the annoying noise. The noise was not a loud banging but since the 2009 was my first experience with a vehicle that was not full body on frame design I was not used to it and it bugged the hell out of me.
