I have a 2023 manual jailbreak, and I have plans to bring it to around 1000whp or more over time. I have a set of 17x10 weld beadlocks and im wondering what the absolute best tire would be for purpose drag racing. I dont plan on using the welds on the street, just the track. For the best grip and time possible, what would be the best tire? I've seen many say ET Street R but I dont need to streetability. I know there is a bias version of the et street r but I dont know much about it. I'm not knowledgeable of Hoosier in any way. And based on the tire, what is the best pressure to run? Its also a manual so I'm not sure if that is a determining factor for a tire.

i know i just hear a lot of people refer to there wheels at "track day" wheels even when talking about drag racing. I hear many people say track in terms of drag racing.

Drag racing a modified manual Hellcat, get ready to break some stuff! ;) @16GoManGoHC2 care to chime in?

If the ET Street R are not the best choice, I don't know what is! They are what I use...

You may actually not want beadlocks, it's maybe a little better to let the tire slip to save on the drivetrain...but then your wheels/tires get out of balance easy and you either need to re-balance all the time or try out those balance beads which I have never tried. Good luck!

And don't worry about @DGatzby - he has drag race envy and everyone around here says "take it to the track" and they are not talking about a road course! ;)

Love Fort Myers! I have family down there on the island...f'in Hurricane Ian sucked! But they are building back.

I've seen many manual guys post that they were using Hoosier Slicks.
I am just showing an example, and don't know if they would be the correct fitment. https://highhorseperformance.com/hoosier-d-o-t-drag-radial-tire-p275-40r17-17330dr2/

What are you planning on modifying for 1000HP?

You will definitely need an experienced Tuner, maybe you will do you own modifying?

There is certainly knowledge on what to modify first.

Linda

Yes, my chime would be:

How fat is your wallet and what is the depth of your resolve to be quick with a stick Hellcat?

And, I have a set of 315/50-17 MT Street R’s on 17x10 Race Star Recluse rims I’ll sell you cheap to get you started. Tires are a bit old but both tires and rims look like new, stored at 72F year round, used once on the street for a tire comparison test when they where new and then only on the car at the track, not driven back and forth to the track, maybe 15-20 passes on them with light burnouts.

And I’ll add the ET Streets are not the most grippy street tire unless you heat them up first. Don’t expect a drag tire to grip off launch from a red light cold, they’ll spin just as easy as a 20” DR of the same size. My experience at least. I had my quickest time, 9.998 at the 850 wheel area 133 mph, at 1075 to the tire launching becomes very hard and my best there was 10.3 at 145 but any wheel hop event usually hurt something and my wallet just got tired of chasing 9’s when autos at 850 where close to 8’s. Add to that my local track starting grouping all cars together, sticks and autos, and it became even more impossible to stay in the game for any length of time. Some tuning tweaks can help but unfortunately the PCM has no idea what gear the car is in and best one can do is some tuning tweaks based on speed, which help. After just spending about 15 grand to replace the clutch, transmission for the fourth time, driveshaft, differential for the third or fourth time, axles for the fifth maybe six time, this car only sees roll. racing and street play from now on.

A M6 friend of mine does use the Bias ply Hoosiers though, likes them over radials. He’s a die hard M6 guy, he’s changing over to a G-Force 9” rear set up now as he’s tired of going through Diffs and axles to but I think he’s going to find that unless he goes solid axle out back he’s still going to break things. His car is lightened and pretty much a dedicated track car, mine is not, I’ve done nothing but add weight over the years not take it away. 4800 lbs 1000 ft lbs of torque, nothing to soften shock loading, and CV based axels I do not think are ever going to play well together.
Good luck to you and hope it does turn out to be fun for you would be my hope for you.

Sell it and get an automatic if you plan to modify and drag race it. Manuals are slow and break a lot of parts.

PS, as a new member, please, NEVER put on the spot or try to correct a member with a handle like DGatzby that is #1 a Veteran (We Salute you), a Founding + Donating Member, who holds a Premuim account, and, not only HFCOTM but also HFCOTY!! Be glad, and more so, respectful, they are taking the time to answer your thread. I’m sure he THANKS YOU for the apology, but not the supporting correction afterwards. You will gain more help and respect with holding your tongue and respecting, right or wrong, such member. My .02 at least.

Gatzby, you’re the only person I know crazy enough to run a square setup and hit some turns in these cars. I’d love to see what you do with a Trackhawk in AWD, but I’m also terrified that you might break time and space with those G-Forces.

Thanks. Nobody was looking the other night. Took the TC off the old Jeep and destroyed some stubborn 1/2 frozen slush:unsure: Those are some of the best vehicles for winter on the planet.

I’m glad you got to go have some fun!

I’ve been wanting to get another jeep. But I’m not allowed to buy another vehicle until the Mrs. Gets her new jeep Grand Cherokee.

I sat in a new one a couple weeks ago at the dealer. They are beautiful inside. It had a new item. Embedded in front of the FRONT passenger is a LED screen with a HDMI input port.😆 I believe it had the V6 and not the hybrid which has some problems.
