We don't want to see anyone get hurt. This is the first I have heard about brake by wire, didn't know it was a thing. They should recall them all and give the people back their money. We all make mistakes sometimes but you can fix it by going to the Dodge dealer

This got my interest as I was wondering about the brake by wire system. This was posted in the comments in the original post above linked article:

Technically, the Corvette braking system should be called "boost by wire." The car has a traditional hydraulic braking system, but rather than a vacuum power booster it uses a computer-controlled electro-hydraulic booster. The system monitors brake pedal pressure and (based on the braking mode selected) controls both brake application pressure to the wheels and "feedback" pressure to the brake pedal. The potential failure at the heart of this recall would only cause loss of power assist, not loss of braking power. However, if you have ever tried stopping a car with a bad vacuum booster you know that the pedal pressures required can be extremely high since the hydraulic system components are optimized to operate with power assist.

I drove an old Dodge Power Wagon that didn't have power brakes.

I damn near crashed it! I learned very quickly that you have to press hard!

And keep in mind that when a vehicle is designed that way, it's not the same as loosing a vacuum booster, the ratio between the Slave and Master cylinder is not the same (that ratio is worse when the system relies on the vacuum booster, meaning it's even more difficult than a system intended to be non-assisted)

My Mazda CX-9 had a recall on the brake boost system...I remember how hard I had to brake to stop the car. Also remember the hissing sound. Not a good thing especially on a high performance car.

Yeah like all 1st year builds there will be woes... Mine goes in for PPF and a few goodies soon so I will drop it off after. There is also a few other recalls and there will probably be more once my car is done.

Thank you for the heads up @ChargerChallenger!
