For anyone cleaning or removing the air filter from a hellcat or red eye with an open top filter box be aware that there is a small rubber support teat molded to the small end cap of the filter. It fits into a slotted hole and when removing the filter the filter must be be moved about an inch to the rear before lifting the filter out of the box. If not you will tear the teat from the filter cap. Then you either use gorilla glue or buy a new filter.
Since the element is secured by three screws and a clamp I’m not sure of the purpose for the rubber support but be aware that it is there.

I daily drive my redeye and I have 2 air filters so I always have a clean one to swap on. I use the K&N filter cleaning kit with red oil. cleaning the filters and getting inside the folds with my shop-vac attachment to get all the pebbles and bugs out is a pain in the butt! Then spray cleaner, rinse, dry and oil it...makes me think about just buying new filters all the time but at $100+ a pop that would add up quick!

Man I will tell you, the filters look pretty bad after about 6 months here in the desert, don't know what you are seeing. I've got the swap down to about 10 minutes now, I can swap a tstat out in about the same amount of time as I do that twice a year too.
