I will take your advice on the 392 Durango MDS.
Is there an issue specifically with the newer 392 Durango? I have experienced the MDS on multiple 5.7's and an older 392 Charger and even though I am not a fan, it was doable.
I have deleted the MDS on the 392 Charger before when I was doing a cam swap. That was a pain even with the handheld tuner.
I had it on my 5.7 R/T and test drove several 392 Challengers before getting my Hellcat. It wasn't horrible, but was noticeable. On the 5.7 I mashed the ECO button early on to kill it and never looked back

.
On the '23 DDSRT it seemed very intrusive to me, especially in the 40 - 50 mph range. Even slight throttle changes caused it to phase in & out making it even more annoying and, for me, in my face a lot (many roads around here have speed limits in that range). Others with '23's have mentioned it, but those with newer ones don't seem as bothered by it. Since I've not driven a newer one, I can't really say if it's better or not.
Perhaps there was something in that MY that made it worse (cam grind, tune etc.) or maybe just something with the build of that specific engine or could be I'm just a nit-picker (alright, I am

) and fixate on every little noise and vibration so it seemed worse in my mind.
Hard to say for sure, hence my recommendation to do an extensive test drive in the specific one you intend to purchase. By extensive I mean trying to drive on roads, traffic & in conditions you typically use the vehicle to the extent possible. The usual dealer quick & dirty 15 min drive is not very revealing when it comes to an issue like this. If you plan to order I'd TD one from the lot that's close to your spec, if acceptable then order, then do another TD when it lands before signing the final paperwork.
