Actually the 392 comes standard with 3.73 gears...and full time 4 wheel drive.

You could literally buy a Rubicon, 392 crate, trans, and still have 30k in money for off-road upgrades before meeting the base price of a Wrangler 392
Its about 40k to have Americas Most Wanted swap in a 392 to your Jeep
new crate 392
new accessories
new trans 8hp75
new rubicon transfer case
new adaptor
new ecu
removal of current drive train - weld in motor mounts
new radiator
installation
tuned

The more I look into it the more its a pretty good deal. Especially if you get a base Sport and swap.
392 also is available with a 6 speed as well.
500hp with a stick in a Jeep sounds like a lot of fun to me.

I just took it out if the MT article linked at the beggining of this thread. Im not at work to be able to go out and check for sure

Of course, the Rubicon 392 is most at home anywhere unpaved. The first—and hopefully only— points of contact with the dirt are 35-inch BFGoodrich tires wrapped around 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels. Live front and rear axles (a full-float Dana 44 rear is new for 2024) lock electronically and feature a 4.56:1 gear ratio. They're driven by an eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time automatic transfer case with four high, four low, a 2.72:1 low range, and a 100:1 crawl ratio. Like all Rubicons, the 392 is equipped with an electronically disconnecting front anti-roll bar; its suspension is also lifted 1.5 inches with a slight additional body lift to accommodate the V-8. Ensuring near-unstoppability over various terrains are 46.7-degree approach, 24.5-degree breakover, and 39.8-degree departure angles, as well as 11.1 inches of ground clearance.

There's been a complete change over time. Now you might be living in a one horse town, while we have plenty of them around.

For that price I’ll pass on the Rubicon. My 2021 JGC TrailHawk with the 5.7 has the same suspension and 11.3” of ground clearance and 24” of water fording with the factory tires and costs about $40,000 less than the 392 Rubicon. The leather interior is as comfortable as a Charger with the same SRT type seats and features as the Charger including sport mode and paddle shifters.

I have owned 2 392 Rubicons. A 2021 and a 2023. Both had 3.73 gears. Option for non 392 models is 4.88. 4.10 is standard on the Rubicon model running the 2 liter or the 3.6. I have a 2 door, 3.6, 4.88 geared, 6 speed manual on order currently.

You may be correct about the X series Rubicon. I do think you get an upgrade to 4.56 gears with the 35 inch tires. My bad.

It's a 2-door (of course) with the rag top.

Well, they used to be.

A real Jeep (flatfender) is 57-1/8 inches wide as delivered. Today's JL is 16.8 inches wider.
But that's okay. Mall parking lots tend to be spacious.

I'd be in a Bronco but Ford kept jerking my ass around.
And then the dealer piled on.

Ordered a Jeep and had it 6-7 weeks later.

I do wish it had a little more room but overall its been great its a lot of fun with the doors/top off.

That swap in my Gladiator Mojave along with Terraflex's long travel suspension would be the ultimate desert runner...and literally nearly double the price of it.

The Mojave has desert-rated/specific upgrades that no other Jeep has so buying a base model and then modding it doesn't work, especially since the frame itself (in addition to cast iron steering knuckles, etc.) is one of those upgrades...

...but if the majority of your "flexing" is in the mall parking lot then just the AMW motor swap is baller AF!

I have a Mojave.

I was just citing the base as a cheap alternative if you wanted a hot rod Jeep

But seeing the Rubicon 392 now starting in the 90s and loaded at 100k, paying 40 something K for the swap seems reasonable.
I was 44 OTD for my Mojave. So 90k range is where I would be.

You are correct. 392 Rubicon has 3.73 and 392XR on 35's has 4.56 with a monroney that shows 3.73 in the standard equipment column. On the XR option list it doesn't call out the 4.56, which drove a massive back-and-forth on the Jeep forums in the early days of the XR option.

Haven't seen a recent sticker so can't speak to the 4.56 being called out...but the 35's from the factory have them. For Jeep fans this vehicle has been a grail for a very long time. If you've ever been in one, it is a riot!

The 392 does 60 in the mid 4's. The XR does it in 4.0 and the quarter in 12.9/104 mph (on 35" off road tires :LOL:) The 392 is governed a notch below 100 mph, XR goes to112. I'd stick with our Challengers and Chargers for higher speeds...the suspension in a Rubicon is designed for something else entirely!

Jeep fans run a wide ranging gamut from hard core off roaders to mall crawlers/chill dudes just as our ilk runs from the serious folks on this forum to the street takeover crowd. Oh...and everyone loves mods.

I remember pricing one out.
Then XR was on restriction or not available.

Ended up not going that route.

If I end up with the 392 swap, I'll get 4.56s or 4.88s

A 12second Jeep for a daily sounds like a hoot
