And speaking of tire goop, I've always wondered what happens to the brakes when people spray wheel cleaners and tire goop on the rotors. Are the pads somehow impervious to those chemicals?
That's why I separated California from the other states and mentioned having to jump through hoops there.

I'm surely in a minority, as usual, but when I see a vehicle with tire goop on its tires, the last thing that comes to mind is "that looks good".
Instead I think "poor tires...why?!?". Of course, I tend to prioritize function over looks.

For me, photos are enough to decide on whether to buy or not. So far I haven't been disappointed. If anything, usually pleasantly surprised instead.
