That connection can only go bad when the grid heater is used, which is easy enough to avoid.
I disconnected mine years ago, when this first started to become a known issue. As it turned out, I don't need the grid heater here, either. At least not if it's -10 or warmer (the lowest temp I've...
Hmm. So the elk and deer are easier to spot with a tinted windshield?
But maybe it's a regional thing. Our wildlife doesn't have any lighting whatsoever. Not even basic reflectors.
It's not really a privacy thing, I just like having things "enclosed" behind me. Windshield and two side windows is all I want. Like on the Pete.
A 2-door delivery is close to ideal for me, but they don't make those anymore, so I have to work with what I have.
I do. But only on the windows behind the (two) doors. There I usually have them use the darkest tint they have...over already deep tinted OE glass.
Heck, I've painted the glass black (on the inside) on some vehicles. Looks like an expensive limo tint, but cost only a few bucks.
I did the mistake of letting the tint outfit do the side windows on one car. Not overly dark, but dark enough to make it really hard to spot a cop car at a distance in the mirrors.
Of course, driving slowly to car shows is a bit different from doing twice the speed limit on fun roads. I don't...
Then it can't be the grid heater relay that's the issue. All that stuff is under the hood.
Hmm, the only fire related recall I can find for Ram diesels is indeed the grid heater relay. You'll see it towards the rear of the right side inner fender. And the cable between it and the battery.
If...
C'mon. Disconnect the cable for the heater relay from the battery and you won't have any fire risk.
You can always put it back on before going to the dealer for the the fix when that day comes.
Or not turn on in the first place. Which is why I asked what those recalls were about, so I wouldn't have to watch the video.
Doesn't matter, we did get it figured out (I think).
