Looking to buy a trailer and need feedback.

Not sure why you're saying that. I've probably loaded and unloaded vehicles on and in trailers some 500 times, at least. Maybe closer to double that. So far they've been driven both ways (except for when loading non-runners with pallet forks or a crane). Proof positive that I'm as stupid as...

Do you have actual numbers for the Challenger? I think I measured mine to about 10 degrees, but it'd be nice to know what it really is.

Is the approach angle about the same though?

I also like it, but your trailer is quite a bit lower than mine, so the door needs to be spaced up much more. As do the ramps. And don't forget that I don't have four paying passengers to kick out, making the car about an inch taller.

Thanks, David. I've seen those. But in my case I'd have space the door up about eight inches, which they do make parts for. Then the ramps would need spacers, like yours has, except taller. Not hard to do, but that would mean four separate contact points (two per side) which isn't ideal on...

Looking to buy a trailer and need feedback.

One thing I've learned (the hard way) is to not buy any kind of trailer with less than 5,200 lb. axles. While it has quite a few miles on it, a light little tandem axle car hauler of mine is on its third set of 3,500 lb. axles. Longevity because of larger bearings, and better brakes. Well worth...

Looking to buy a trailer and need feedback.

Yeah, yours are what got me thinking about this again. Do you know what brand they are? At this point a pair of 8x8x18 blocks of wood are looking appealing. Set the door down on them, then regular aluminum ramps (which I have) on the portion of wood that sticks out past the door. Four more...

Looking to buy a trailer and need feedback.

I've been looking around a bit for a basic 24-foot enclosed trailer, but a gooseneck. Nothing fancy, and without a side door, the ones I'd consider are $30K plus. There's an outfit in Georgia (?) that has them for $20K and change, but... Since the material, if equal, should cost about the same...

Looking to buy a trailer and need feedback.

So I see some nice aluminum ramps attached to trailer doors here. Any you could recommend? While the 4" taller than stock trailer makes the door of the Cat clear the fender, the rear door has nowhere near the correct approach angle, and even the breakover angle is much too high. Need about 8"...

I don't like towing with a 1/2-ton at all, but if I must, this is about the upper limit.

    Hurricane Superbird and Daytona

Hmm, maybe you should come over here and drive around a bit. Then when you drop back down a couple thousand feet your car will feel like a rocket. For a while anyway. Besides, I can assure you that there's no 100 hp loss here. If it were, some of my vehicles would have negative hp numbers.

Yes, now I remember that you were part of that mess. Still wouldn't make me move east, though, but maybe to a less fire prone area out here in the west.

Sounds like you're either in an area with lots of trees and/or brush, or where houses are very close together. If so, it doesn't matter all that much where in the country you are, fire can spread easily. This place is like asbestos compared to what I'm used to, and it's rarely windy in the...

    Hurricane Superbird and Daytona

Much like I still expect to find rattlesnakes under a piece of plywood, the thoughts about fire hasn't gone away, either. For example, I know what order I'd (try to) get cars out of the garage if there's a fire in there. And the order is not based on what they are worth, but what they mean to...

Appreciate the offer. I'll be in touch. By the way, I'm not worried about Ruger, Sig, Colt, or Mossberg. It's the alligators I wan't nothing to do with.
