Never thought of squeezing out that last bit of oil, but it makes sense to me. I'll try to remember doing that on whatever I change oil in next. Of course, some feel that there's no reason to drain the oil cooler because "there's so little in it". Well, I drain it.
What I already have started...
Interesting, considering that the vehicles coming out of Saltillo seem to be far better put together than what comes out of the domestic plants.
Maybe paying forklift drivers $80/hr (if that was true) isn't the key to good workmanship?
If that means that they fired the "tech" who did your oil change, that's a good thing. Not for you, but for future victims of dealer service.
And again, an oil analysis should answer many of your questions.
I saw three Furds towed by Rams going to Utah last week. Someone I know drives a Ram tow truck and tows an unproportionate amount of Furds. Apparently, sometimes the internet jabber can be correct.
Then again, I'm a bit biased, never having had enough tools or patience to own a Furd. Sure have...
Wait! You're worried about emission stuff on the Ram, but considering buying a Furd?!?
A friend of mine routinely puts close to 500,000 miles on his Rams, no issues. But then, he tows somewhat heavy more than half of those miles. It's people that use them as cars that tends to have problems.
No personal experience since my cab and chassis apparently isn't affected by that recall, but quite a few people are hesitant about having it done, and I can understand why.
On the other hand, I have yet to read that anyone has seen (verified) extra fuel and/or DEF usage.
Since you're selling...
That's the least likely scenario, I think. First the dealer has to know it exists, then remove panels to get to it.
But that they ignore it could be a good thing. That way they don't break the cooler by not using a wrench to support it when undoing the drain plug.
That was one thing that made me lust for a '69 El Camino...to be able to fix just about anything on it with a Leatherman.
(Sorry. That should be Leatherperson these days.)
