I really don't think that is much of an issue? I would try to find a hellcat model for close to the same price though, it's a buyer's market right now for sure.

I have two 392s, one is a 2017 Power Wagon, and one is a 2019 DSRT (to go along with the 2016 HC).

I have no issues.

Change the oil frequently with PUP and either a Mopar or WIX filter and drive and enjoy.

Is there a chance that you'll get the bad apple, or course, but these engines are doing fine if you ask me.


Now to be fair, I've also got a 2006 Durango with a 5.7L that knocks to high hell, but it also has 180k miles on it and it's obviously a different design motor. Shyt happens.

I have owned 2 392 engines now with no issues. I always change the oil early . I also turn of MDS so the lifters are never off.
I had a 2020 Scat pack and a 2021 Durango SRT. I wouldn't worry about that my man. If you find a good low miles one , even if the oil has just been changed, do it again and do it under 5k miles. I usually do mine around 3-4k

got to look closely at a 24 Alchemi model yesterday, I really like it but as said I can et a DDHC one year older with a third of the miles for same listed price.

Already have the 392 Wrangler and although it would be interesting to have the pair (both variations of gray) I do not want to give up the HC powerplant for settling
