I purchased a new 2024 Durango SRT AWD with 27 miles on it on 10/30/25. It was a "hail damage" car, with so far as I can see only 3 very slight hail dents. They told me that the warranty started at the date the dealership purchased it from Dodge. They could not show me any paperwork documenting when the dealership purchased it. So the official warranty start date on my Durango is 7/1/24. Interestingly, that is also the vehicle build date on the VIN sticker. Is this the proper and correct warranty start date?

MSRP was $79,845, I got it for 22K plus my 2020 Challenger Scat Pack..

Very similar indeed. Apparently, Stellantis wants these 2024s gone and is willing to get "creative" in their selling tactics. I got exactly what I was looking for, not including the 4 little hail marks. I wanted to get rid of the Challenger anyway for several reasons. I bought it used and didn't catch the curb rash on two of the wheels, and paint started peeling off the front around the headlights. I had visions of it being collectible, being a 50th anniversary edition, but with the tires having been replaced with only 10k miles before I got it, it was more than likely a burnout and donut car, hence the curb rash. The roads around here are not friendly to the low clearance of the Challenger. So now I have clearance and the power I want, roominess, and a sunroof that doesn't leak! I'm happy as a clam, except for the warranty situation.

I do not disagree that there are plenty of sh*tty dealers but not all. My local dodge dealer has been completely fair and honest with me. Have bought 2 Hornets from them and just ordered my 3rd Durango. I like everyone there. My sales rep, the sales manager, the service manager, the finance guys and the owner. All excellent.

In the particular industry I have been working in for the last 25 years the majority of the companies are full of weasels and slicksters but not all of us. You can be honest and fair and still make money if you are willing to do the work and not take the easy way out. Sometimes hard to find but honest business people are out there.

Reading the post you quoted it sounds like the dealer was being absolutely upfront and straight with him. His issue is that the auction didn't show up on Carfax. Your comments should have been directed toward Carfax.

Yer jokin right ......maybe I missed it....but there is a reason cars (new) go to auction..the reason is NEVER good...lemon law buy back...accident damage..weather damage (flood...hail)...to name a few...did the dealer disclose the reason ....and the warrantee issue is unusual....now CARFAX has NOTHING to do with any of this...the only one that knows for sure...is the DEALER...and he's not tellin the whole story...(that's not being straight and upfront)
