This sounds similar to how the Beechcraft Starship's construction with the exception of fiberglass. The fuselage is wound with carbon fiber. The honeycomb on those planes is 1.25" thick. My flight club took a tour of the Beechcraft plant back in the 80's when that plane was first introduced. That was pretty cool to see how strong that cardboard was. If the FAA certified the plane.

I don't see how this truck would be a whole lot different than the other fiberglass cars out there. They burn to the ground just like the boats burn to the waterline

If you guys really want a laugh, I made the same post on another forum and every response was serious in support of making cars from paper mache! The first response was from a moderator quoting the article without posting any opinion. They are all jumping on my ass like I’m some kind of anti-progress Nazi!. I guess some people love the new crepe paper crap, and others love the old world classics. I am of the latter!

Why not?

East Germany produced the Trabant. A vehicle whose body was made of wood fiber, or cotton reinforced plastic (like Bakelite), sitting on top of a stamped sheet metal pan (like a VW Beetle).

It had like a 40 year run... largely unchanged.
