The 69 440 a-bodies are cool, one year only. They built around 600 I believe of each. There was a 69 cuda coupe black with black strips in Colorada back in the early 90's.
You don't see to many 383 either which they started in 67. They rated them less for hp compared to the b bodies because of the exhaust manifolds

It’s nice but the wrong color repaint is a problem for most collectors. It will cost at least $25K and probably more to strip it and repaint it white unless you could do most of the work yourself.
Very cool nostalgic driver..very cool indeed..(y)

Last time I saw the car at our annual Mopar meet it was for sale. I know I have a picture of the car but finding it would be a challenge. I have a huge box full of pictures probably like most of us:LOL:

We have a guy here that has one of those Dart 440 GSS cars..when you think of Grand Spaulding..and Yenko for the Chevy guys..it was a glorious time for car guys indeed..unfortunately I was a 17 yr old kid..with no money..:(:(

There's a few other Mopars (other than my RE) that I'd love to have, and the Dart GTS is one of them. Years ago, a guy down the street from me had a factory 383 Dart with a 4 speed. Black with a bumble bee stripe.....car was sexy and I've wanted one ever since.

The other two are a '70 Superbee, and a 71 Charger RT ......

They did the 440 before it was a factory option. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to get a SS/AA Hemi car:p
Stage 111 Max Wedge would be better. Street Hemi's sucked.

You are correct. Problem is it needed spark plugs once a week if driven on the street. They needed constant tunes. Friend of mine had a race Hemi in his '64 Dodge. It was tuned by the Flying Dutchman and fast. The full sized Dodge light weight with the Max Wedge ran 10's as well on the street.
The Hemi in full dress race was unmatched as far as power. Anything less proved un-impressive. I've owned 2 of them. Unfortunately I sold both of them for 5k each back in 1980 as no one wanted them.:eek:

Back in '80 or '81 I was invited to run my '68 Hemi Charger in the Cannon Ball race. My friend Eddie Paul who built many custom cars for the for the movies wanted to drive it and have me as a co-driver. I was so excited that we built a new motor for it. Nothing fancy as we wanted reliability. Bad luck. Oil pump failed on start up but didn't hurt the engine as I shut it off instantly. Then the rings wouldn't seat. It took 2 weeks of driving to seat them in.It was a smokey bitch and I didn't trust it. By the time they seated and the car ran really good; it was too late. I got pissed off and sold both my Hemi chargers for 5K each. The guy I sold both of them to had 10 Hemi chargers plus my 2. Last I heard he became rich.:(

There was also Nickey (with the backward K) and Baldwin-Motion for the Chevys. Royal Oak and Nunzi's for Pontiacs.

In '68 I worked next door to Dana Chevrolet in South Gate ( Los Angeles ). They were putting big blocks in all kinds of models especialy Camaros. I drooled every time they road tested a finished car. I wanted one so bad but at the time, I didn't have a pot to piss in. :(
