This week in the lab we're conducting experiments. When you gotta know. Some fuel testing to see if the car picks up any differences.

Yea,
Mine found out quickly and back into the dealership for 3 times. 110 octane sold as unleaded but leaded gas. I mixed it 1/2 to 1/2 pump gas Amoco 93 and it still tore the critter up. Dodge took care of me on this. I claim the 5th, 6th, and what ever comes after turds. Electric,,, what is next??

The lamda is easier to use & it moves in a lot smaller increments vs AFR.

I had the pleasure of watching the Blue Angels plus F-18s and some more Super Hornets (and our Snowbirds) practice all day long right overhead at my son's place last week up here in Canada (there was an airshow the next day in London Ontario). First time in ages that the Blue Angels made it up across the border here I believe.

Picked the right day to move him back home, I did more watching than moving!

Being new to all this I wondered why to even display in AFR. Why not just use lambda? Well the AFR gauge helped me figure out an issue that lambda was showing 1 but afr was showing leaner than expected. According to the data log where I was logging lambda everything looked fine. Looking at AFR I was way lean. Well as some of you know I was missing tables in my stock file with hp tuners. Hp tuners added the tables and all is good.
Since I had the tune wrong the car thought it was doing what it was supposed to. Since I had stoich set right the AFR gauge was a very helpful tool.
That right there was enough for me to still want afr and more importantly have it tuned to have AFR read correctly.

I'm not following what occurred. The AFR display on the gauge is just a conversion from Lambda so I'm confused on how Lambda was reading right but AFR was off, but I'm probably missing something.

so I set stoich e85 to the proper value.
At idle and in 7th and 8th gear AFR would show 11 and stoich would show 1. It would run terrible. It was fine if I was accelerating or in 6th.
it was the missing tables we talked about a month or so ago.
So the computer was calling for the wrong fueling with those tables be wrong. So lambda 1 thought it was right. But AFR should otherwise.

As always another great video. Thx.

Question, early next year we will be leaving Az for Clarksville Tn. Should I have my 2015 HHP tune adjusted to support the location changes from the East Valley in Az?

I think I will be going with a different tuner for the Redeye once we relocate. Still trying to get some miles on it. Yes I will go E85.

You shouldn't need a tune change. The trims and aircharge tables can handle changes in elevation without any problems. I would probably grab a data log there and in Clarksville just to confirm but I wouldn't expect a huge difference other than more power in TN :)

I have heard of guys going from high elevation tune to sea level in cold weather without a retune & popping their motor, so be careful if ever going to sea level, especially if it's cold weather or negative DA.
What's the elevation in AZ. vs. TN. ?....both are fairly high elevation I presume.

I'm trying to think of how that could happen.....perhaps if the aircharge tables weren't scaled properly but I doubt Josh would make that mistake. Still a data log in both places is a good idea to know for sure.

Yeah, don't know if this was guys tuning their own cars & running on the edge or other tuners doing it but a couple years ago at our track day in January, there was some cars that came down here from other states & had a few motor failures, now it could of been other factors too, but that was the thought about different elevation tunes / cars that had issues that day.

I think if your tuned at sea level & go to higher elevation, it's not much of a issue but if you tune at high eleva. & go to sea level in the cold, it could be a issue. Never know about other factors too.
