I'm going to go out on a limb and say you'll be much happier with those. lol
Both of my REWB's had the 1-2 tire shake deal. They each had considerably different shift characteristics and both still would do the 1-2 shake. And that was with the 305/50-17. I never had to abort a run from it though, just a good quiver.
I haven't run my SS locally so I haven't had that issue with it.. yet.

Went to the track on Sat. to see if the 315/50R17 on Win Lite bead locks would help the traction issue.
Overcast and the threat of rain. DA was 2215 according to my weather station.
First and only run.
6.618@105. 1.502 60ft. The car hooked up and went right down the middle. Then it started to rain.
I've lost 32 lbs. myself so that must have helped as well.
Next outing will be quarter mile on the 18th.

Great run. Congrats on the weight loss. That is amazing.

That's not too shabby my friend! If I'm remembering correctly 6.60's = 10.30's for me. Hopefully it'll be dry on the 18th. :)
And congrats on the 32 lb loss, that's significant. I'm type 2 diabetic so weight is always something I pay attention to.

I never thought I would lose this much weight. Target goal is 185. I'm 6'2".
Yeah, from what I see on my conversion chart it would be a 10.35 or so.
I've done all of the simple mods to the car; not sure what else I can do until it's time to have it tuned.
I'm really impressed with the Cox battery.

The 18th has come and gone.
Finally able to run the car at a 1/4 mile track.
Nothing earth shaking to report. Made 4 runs and the best was a 10.63@130. 60FT. was 1.504.
DA was 1805/75*. Also had a 6 MPH headwind. Shell 92 in the tank.
The 315's really calmed the starting line down. It just hikes the front end and takes off.

Nothing earth shattering and running 10.60s at 130 with a basically stock car.

Wasn't long ago that would have very much been earth shattering. We got spoiled.

Well, crap. That's not exactly what was expected. Like Boris said though, collectively we've been spoiled.
As big as these things are I could see the headwind killing off some et, no idea how much though.
As for hiking the front end, it's almost weird how much front end travel they have. To me it seems like it goes up for a long time before it finally goes forward.

Next outing I'm going to start experimenting with starting line RPM.
Up until now I've been staging the car at 1000-1200 RPM.
If the track will take it, I'll bump it up a few hundred and give it a try.

I also changed the oil in the diff. this afternoon. That stuff is thin!
Amsoil 75-90 is in there now. Still thin! Not like the old days. LOL.

You will knock a half second that with practice, catching better air, and running the car's heavy duty components in.

Update. Installed the Darrell Cox Racing cradle lockouts yesterday. Initial impression is the rear of the car is tighter feeling.
I have also broken down and had ZHTunes perform a 93 oct.tune to the ECM/TCM.
I'm down 45 lbs. as of this morning myself.
The plan is to have a pair of 29.5x10.5/17 Hoosier DBR's ready for the first spring outing.
