So, what is the difference with these? I read up on this about 3 years ago but don't remember specifically. There were some slight differences and I'm about to buy a few cases of oil, so school me those in the know.

At least back in the beginning of HC, the Euro stuff didn't meet our fancy new spec.

(And the Euro stuff was cheaper too)

What "not meeting our spec" really means, shit, I don't know.

Euro meets European specs. Usually longer oil change intervals. TBN (total base number) Euro is higher due to longer oil change intervals. Probably more stout oil from an additive perspective vs PUP 0W-40. Cannot go wrong with either IMHO.

Disclaimer, I use PUP 0W-40 as dealer still does my oil changes.

Valvoline has a 0W-40 that also meets the same spec as PUP 0W-40.

When I ran Mobil 1 euro spec in a 6.4 (correct grade) it resulted in a lot of lifter tick.
Learned my lesson and switched to the approved stuff, which quieted the engine.

Going off memory, but PUP 0W-40 has more Moly vs Euro 0W-40. Obviously dealing with a fully formulated motor oil. Want to say people swear Moly is the key to the lifter tick, but don't know?

Well, in your case, Hellcatcfp, it should be an oil (and change intervals) for severe use.
Look in your manual and you'll see that taxi usage is considered severe.

You're going to give the Charger drivers on the forum a complex.

:)

Great... brings that all back. I'd already ordered the regular anyway. Just thinking about it. Looks like it would behoove them to put the differences or "increased performance" claims on the various bottles.

Well, shucks. They already have 4-doors, what's a complex in the scheme of things?

They went with two on the Challenger so not to over tax your thinking when entering the car.

But a Charger owner may have to get out three times to get rid of the "door ajar" light.

No they won't if they don't mind the rattle.

The additives in both oils are almost the same. I doubt there is any difference in oil performance. That being said I will stuck with the factory recommended Penn. pretty sure the extended warranty is up on my 16 anyway so it does not matter.

I used mobil 1 FS in the Redeye last change at 5000 miles. She has almost 6400 on her now. Been running great. End of story. I’ll probably go back to Penn next change. My mechanic said he couldn’t get the Penn I requested so he used that instead. I wasn’t particularly happy about that. But the oil has been working good as I said and hasn’t burned any extra or anything.

I've used Mobil 1 oil in mine but last oil change I put in Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. My tech said there are just too many potential down sides to not using the recommended oil

Meh any good brand synthetic of proper viscosity will keep these engines purring for a loooong time. Don't over think it.

Here is a recent VOA on Mobil 0w-40. Boron = 300+ ppm.

While PUP 0w-40 has higher levels of Moly.

Both are great oils though, just formulated differently. Many have indicated Moly does better in the Hemi (smoothness), thus why Moly is used in PUP vs. Boron?

Who knows???
