Twice now after going for a faster ride I get a P0330 code. The Diagnostic Screen on the dash says its a knock sensor on bank 2. I took it to a dealer to have it looked at and they said there was nothing wrong. They cleared the code and it was fine until I went faster today. Is this caused by the engine getting hot?

P0330

The knock sensor listens for detonation so the ECM can pull timing when it hears knock. P0330 means the Bank 2 knock sensor circuit is out of range or open. Bank 2 is the cylinder bank that does not contain cylinder #1, so this code only appears on V-configuration (and some flat) engines that carry a second knock sensor. The usual causes are a failed sensor or a wiring/connector fault. On many V-engines the sensor lives in the valley under the intake manifold, so a connector or harness problem there is common - and access is labor. Because it's a piezo device bolted to the block, mounting torque to spec matters too. Some platforms have TSBs for updated sensors or harnesses.

Did you try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes? Also try fuel from a different station.

So I got up on ramps. Disconnected battery. Located knock sensor. Removed insulation shield and the wire came with it. It was never plugged in completely at the factory. My main PISS ME OFF, is the dealership I took it to never checked the wiring. They had 2 chances. I'm calling the service manager Monday to bitch. They lost my business.

Doubt they will care much...gotta take your complaint to a higher level...(not the dealer)..formal complaint to the motor co. customer care center...they should take that somewhat more serious than the dealership...

I do not take my car to the dealership I purchased it at, they are a bunch of inept idiots, I take mine to a dealership in the next city

We’re sorry to hear about this experience. Finding that the knock sensor wiring was not fully connected, especially after the dealership had multiple opportunities to inspect the concern, would understandably be frustrating.

If you'd like additional support, send us a DM with your VIN and any details regarding your dealership visits. We'd be willing to review the situation and look into any available options for assistance. We appreciate you taking the time to share this update.
