I wasn't able to read the story (blocked), but if I understand the concept, it makes great sense to me!

They know (or ought to know) that there is going to be a huge demand for I.C.E. and if they can help us restore classic muscle cars with "factory" parts, how cool would that be?

Now the trick is, (assuming I'm not completely off base) how much money are they going to charge for "new" "new old stock"???

Hopefully it's better than the power brokers program?

Non sense...the patent filings were to insure they secure a strangle hold on what will be "new"...or NOS genuine GM replacement parts...you got a better chance of them opening up a chain of Chinese resturants...hey Bull...when they do...be sure and order #23..Teng Foo Chicken...:giggle::giggle::giggle:

The patents were filed for a reason..and that makes perfect sense..the notion they will fund an in house restoration division..highly unlikely...but WTF do I know right..:giggle::giggle:

Let's see, they want to start a division to fix up all the old cars they couldn't fix when they were new & under warranty ??

VW, Porsche and Mercedes all have restoration divisions...and turn out amazing vehicles.

That being said, maybe GM is actually positioning themselves to BLOCK those OE NOS parts, from going to market, or keeping them out of the hands of those who.could make quality repos using NOS parts.

Just sayin...

I'm guessing that someone in GM finally got the right "ear" explaining that there are tons of people paying tons of money for restored vehicles at Barrett-Jackson and other auctions, and now they want some of that money.

If you had the money for a "factory correct" restoration vs. someone's interpretation of "factory correct", which would you choose.

It'll never be within the realm of people like me, but those that have mega-bucks would be willing to pay. Just like they overpay for those classic cars now.

You already can catalog order a Tri-Five/Gen 1 Camaro/Chevelle etc
Pick a frame
Order a body
Order a drive train
Assemble

Its a booming market and its getting bigger every year. Its stupid to not engage in it.
