Isn’t the general recommendation to file as early as possible( so that nobody pulls an identity theft issue by filing for you) and then pay up as late as possible?

Yes, but there is another reason (allegedly) which I won't disclose :sneaky:;).

I had mine fixed early February... but I’ve always done it early. Is there a reason people wait so late in the year?

Those are just rumors...according to a few former IRS agents. 😉

I recently retired and with the extra time on my hands. I completed and filed my taxes in early March. Don't hold your breath for a speedy response from the IRS, deadline or not. I am still waiting for the refund 70 days later. What will I use it for ?To pay my PROPERTY TAXES, it's just a vicious circle. The incompetent Biden administration just might be targeting the conservative areas and will use it as they see fit.:mad::mad:

If you have been following this administration it seems like everything they do effects conservative states the most.

You e-filed? And are you getting a direct deposit or Check? The USPS sucks...my neighbors refund check ended up in my mailbox this year.

Damn, that’s miserable. I filed two weeks ago, and my NYS refund just came through today. God knows when the Federal will come in now.

The only reason I didn’t file sooner because the government kept changing the damn tax laws well into filing season. Drives me nuts as a CPA; though I’m not tax oriented.

Yep, it drove many of us crazy and CA did not pass their PPP conformity bill until April 29th. However, CA did not exactly conform as per usual.
