Why not? At worst you could always park it on the side of the road and sell fish ‘n chips!

If she wasn't crazy, I would be questioning wtf she is doing here...

Ps. Go for it, but get them down on the price more, that thing is going to be a money pit, but a cool money pit.

For that price??? Yes.

Most of those old motorhomes had woood frames for the box part. They were also prone to water leaks. Once the water gets in, it rots the wood frame. Maybe this is one of the few that didn't leak, and if you see any water stains or evidence of water damage, walk away.

That 6 cylinder engine won't do you any favors either.

I would imagine that you could find a newer motorhome for that price, or slightly more. I don't know what prices are like in the UK for motorhomes. That price just seems high for something of that age.

If there's no wood rot, one of the positives is that this thing is low tech, and you don't have to worry about expensive computers, etc when it comes to repairs.

Look it over very well. Get up on the roof and look for signs of damage and quick fixes like caulking stuffed in holes, etc.

Good luck.

I agree price is high but "vintage" RVs make premium here so its not totally out of the way.

I'm attracted to it as 22' makes it fairly practical here and still big enough inside, fits my criteria for fixed bedroom, small kitchen and dinette. In a way the interior is a bit too good and would be a shame to update.

I think Superior used all steel frame and sheet metal with a form of galvanising, leaks are still something to look for though and floor could be be issue. Being in UK for most of its life would make me think underside rust could be a problem.

Engine and box is the biggest letdown and not something I could replace myself on the drive.

Think I'll see if it sells and maybe give the bloke a ring if it doesn't.

That's good if Superior used metal vs wood for the box frame. That would save the wood rot issues.

I actually like the vintage idea of it and the simplicity of the equipment on this one. Should be easy to carry basic spare parts for and do roadside repairs if necessary.

Here's an interesting video on the same type of motorhome. It looks like you were right and they used metal framing for the box, which is great.

I was in High School in 1973 but don't recall seeing anything like that! It's cool and looks like it'll take some focus and investment to get it where you'd want it.

You didn't say if it has a loo. Whenever I look at RV's and dream of traveling the USA in one having a loo on board is a primary consideration.

Keep us updated on where you go with this please!

I just saw that also, jroyk. Lize, what up? Did you do it? Enquiring minds want to know!

I had to look it up but use of "inquiring" and "enquiring" are both appropriate. My understanding is that in the UK "inquiring" is more formal and used in investigations so I went with the more casual form. In the U.S. "Inquire" is the more commonly used term.

Grammer lesson over. I hope your feeling emmancipated from the stippulation and intoxication of speaking American (I did that to annoy the You're/Your crowd :)).

Not me, there is someone crazier.
Bit disappointing but I always think if in doubt then best not to go and view for the risk of falling in love and buying with rose tinted glasses.

Better get onto looking at modern ones with slide outs :D.

My RV happens to be for sale. It's left hand drive, though.
Not that it really matters. You could run into a lot of stuff without hurting it.

And there's room for a small vehicle in the back. trek 030.jpg
