Ram Shortbed Regular Cab Is Gone

Mine's also far from top of the line. Would've really liked to have a heated steering wheel, but realized that I'd rather freeze a bit every now and then than have to always deal with a touch screen...which is a must for getting the heated 'wheel and seats. Heck, I even ordered it without the...

Ram Shortbed Regular Cab Is Gone

Ah, yes, the Ramcharger. Wish I'd remember how many bags of cement I crammed into the back of one. Plus four people inside. Those bump stops got the workout of their lives. All nine of them, in one trip.

Ram Shortbed Regular Cab Is Gone

Okay, that's funny. Not so funny is how much that poor 1/2-ton is squatting. Must be some 300 lbs. in the back to get that kind of rake.

Ram Shortbed Regular Cab Is Gone

I don't mind the AWD/4WD. But a lower 2WD sure would be fun.

Ram Shortbed Regular Cab Is Gone

I'd love to have one. But there's no chance whatsoever that they'll make a Gen 5 regular cab. At least not for the US market. There's some weird emissions related rule that makes it tricky for them to have a small footprint (physically, as seen from above). As I recall, a regular cab longbed is...

Ram Shortbed Regular Cab Is Gone

No, they sure don't. That one was my first, and somewhat predictable lesson in 1/2-ton towing. Tried pulling my (empty) 16-foot enclosed trailer. No thanks. Later tried with an empty 16-foot flatbed behind the '14 Ram 1500. Again, a big no thanks. Best (okay, least worst) so far was that same...

Ram Shortbed Regular Cab Is Gone

I still (occasionally) miss my little '05 Chevy regular cab shortbed. Affectionately known as The Garden Pickup. It was set up to deal with corners, and could hang with many supposedly superior cars. But, a low 2WD pickup on wide tires wasn't exactly ideal for around here, so it was sold...

Ram Shortbed Regular Cab Is Gone

Agree. I also thought they were long gone. Now I can't remember if I even looked at ordering one in '14, or decided on a Quad Cab for other reasons. A short bed 1500 makes perfect sense, since there's no payload to speak of anyway. And obviously two doors are plenty since nobody uses a pickup...

Is there a better way to change an oil filter?

Well, I like to drain the oil while as much crap as possible is still in suspense in the oil. In other words, very shortly after driving the vehicle. I also don't care how much oil comes out of the cooler per se, but want the sediment trapped at the drain out of there. More flow helps with...

Is there a better way to change an oil filter?

Can't say that I remember being bothered by oil running down outside the filter, but have noticed that much more comes out of the cooler's drain plug if removing that one before the filter. Guess that could mean there's less in the filter afterwards. Either way, always drain all vehicles when...

Does anyone know about plows on 2019+ Ram 1500 DT???

If it was only plowing, I'd say go ahead, but it's unfortunate that you put comfort over the safety of your wife and horses. Although, you're far from alone. Those unrealistic J2807 ratings have made many buy much less tow vehicle than they rightfully should. And the Ram salesman certainly...

Don't Expect To Get Your New Challenger or Charger Anytime Soon

That's unfortunately not uncommon these days. And hasn't been for about a year.

Does anyone know about plows on 2019+ Ram 1500 DT???

Just out of curiosity, what tire pressures did you run in that '18 2500? LT tires at 80 psi (which dealers seem to like to leave them at) ride terrible with no load, compared to a 1500's lady like 36 psi in P-rated tires.

Does anyone know about plows on 2019+ Ram 1500 DT???

I dunno if it's a world, but yes, there sure are differences. Had three 2500s ('10, '14, and '14) and decided to get a "practical car". Bought a '14 1500, which was the most boring car I've had in recent history. Got a 3500 C&C for towing in '17 and haven't regretted that one bit. Then, in...

Does anyone know about plows on 2019+ Ram 1500 DT???

You'll get maybe a 200 lb. higher payload with a 2500, so they're basically interchangeable in that sense. And whether with standard rear coils or air suspension, they ride nicely. Obviously I was kidding about not towing anything with a 1500, by the way. I wouldn't hesitate to pull a jet ski...

Does anyone know about plows on 2019+ Ram 1500 DT???

You're asking the wrong person when it comes to towing anything with a 1500. Towing is why the 3500/4500/5500 ones exist. My girlfriend had a diesel 2500, but is much happier with her current 3500 longbed gasser. And she only has a 3-horse trailer. Do they even make gooseneck hitches for...
