Is the car in the U.K. now? That would make the transaction easier.
It was in Canada. I live 30 min from where the first picture of it in front of the garage was taken. It was at legendary motorcar but it says sold. Not sure where he found it.

The best money you can spend would be to have Dave Wise from MMC or even Marauo Brocca who is a local restorer take a look at the car for you. They both do this for a living, there reports are complete and accurate. It would be money well spent!
Quality of car and resto make a huge difference in price, the last two Hemi Challengers that were very correct sold at the Mecum Kissimmee auction this past Feb, one sold for 258k and the other for 301K that was hammer price there was 10% Commission also. There was one that sold at that same auction for 93k, theres a reason for this, correctness, documentation , resto quailty. Wonder why one car sold for 258k and the other for 301K that 301 car was an original shaker hood car, very few accuality built with shakers in 70, many have them now and there repos.Top dollar cars will bring top dollar and driver quality bring driver money. That said the car is nice no doubt, theres alot of incorrect on this car. The wheels are Not the correct 450 numbered wheels , the correct wheels for this car are 1000.00 each for correct date coded oem wheels, the wheels on it 250.00 for 4, you can buy repo 450 wheels at 1000 per set just an example of why some cars bring 130 -160 and others hit that 300 mark. Image 9 check fit of rear valance to quarter pannel thats most likey a repo quarter that hasnt been installed to premium standards , compare to pass side images 10-13, seat covers fit loose and puckered, heater box has a cracked and removed lip, no spair tire air canister (1000) for a real oem. NO jack assembley, incorrect master cylinder and lid, no hood spring, incorret wiper motor.........ect. All of this does not mean its not a very nice car BUT its nowhere near the car that brought 258k. Also cant really see the inner fender tag clear enough but looks like its a repo, that makes a value diffrence, body numbers, restamps, core support numbers and cowl numbers must match and have to be original to the body. Its a big investment, dont guess you could loose your tail in a hartbeat.

Good luck and educate yourself, Top dollar cars bring top dollar, Prices are still very strong if not record setting on the right cars but smart buyers are not buying driver cars for top dollar thats where the price diffrence is,dont get caught paying top dollar for driver quailty thats where new buyers loose there tail!!!!

many thanks badchallenger. Precisely the sort of information I was looking for. The car I believe is somewhere in Europe so I have no hope of having it inspected by someone that is an authority of the marque. To the untrained eye like mine it looks fantastic. But as you and many others say I would not want to lose my shirt on it.

Def agree with this. Prices are definitely down on premium muscle cars last couple of years. I would even say as low as $130- 160K

Ask is the ask. What people pay are two different things. If these cars aren't pulling that money at Barret Jackson (Premium selling platform with affluent clientele and alcohol sales to boot) , they're not getting that money anymore. $250-$350k mid 60's big block 'Vettes are going 80-90K. Most if not all these cars aren't worth what a professional resto + purchase price cost anymore.
A 60's BB vette doesn't equal a 70 RT with the hemi and 4 speed. Just the powertrain in the car is probably worth $75k-$100K.

But I should have been more clear.....provided everything is "right" and legit I believe it to be a $500k car. As someone suggested though, have it gone over by someone who knows their s...

Unless they are offering it for some of the ridiculous prices in this thread and if they are it's a "buy" pretty much regardless of anything.

So still waiting to hear what the "good price" is :D

Detailed pictures can get you close but you will never know without putting eyes on it. Never buy an old muscle car (actually I never make any major purchases without a visial) without a through visual inspection.
If your serious about this car pictures, lots of pictures, VIN tag pics, inner fender tag pics, radiator and core support stampings, engine VIN stampings , trans stampings, Carb numbers , distrubutor numbers, good close photos, under carrage and trunk photos, bottoms of quarter pannels, K frame pictures ect ......More is better. Couple examples, the carbs for a 1970 hemi 4 speed car are very hard to find, a correct pair restored are in the neighborhood of 4500.00 , you can also buy new AFB carbs that work, look good but incorrrect around 1300.00, correct distbutor for that car is 1000.00 , hard to tell in the pic but I believe that thats a new style electronic there about 125.00. Notice how the pics of the car on the hoist are very high up and not close up??? Usally theres a reason, not always but go in with eyes wide open.
All of this doesnt mean that that car is not a nice car, and most likley coud be used and enjoyed as is but pay actual value for what your purchasing.
If you need a hand I can go over pics for you and can get you a pretty good idea of what your looking at and a narrowed down price range. Checking for a rebodied car can only be done in person and even then because of the value of these cars people have gotten so good at hiding it.
Heres where I'm betting the current owner stands, being in Europe he most likely bought it sight unseen, coming from Legendary, he paid top dollar, they can and do have nice cars, some are better than others but he paid top dollar so hes probably in it very deep money wise. Most likely paid investment grade money for a driver pricing. So get educated if this is truly what you want, pay current market value for what your buying. If you need a hand going over detailed pictures, let me know , drop me a PM or email.
Good Luck!!!

I took your advice and without a proper and thorough inspection it was just not worth the financial risk. I think the car was sold yesterday but I have no idea what the final offer was.
Porsche 935 would be nice but they are absolutely huge money and way above my pay grade :)

Lately the values of high end muscle cars has dropped.
The people who really drove the prices up are the older crowd like me. Younger people aren't into those late 60s early 70s cars as much as us. In 10 to 20 years from now I'll bet the values will drop drastically.
Basically the new cars are better in every way. My hellcat is way faster, rides and handles better. Gets better gas mileage and stops better. This fact hurts the old cars too.

Come on....spill the beans!!

In your original post you stated it was offered to you for what you thought was a "good price". What was it offered to you for?

There are going to be Lots of Little girls and boys who I have influenced by letting them sit in my Cars Most liked old one is the 1968 Shelby GT500 and have their picture taken. They will remember !
I also have all my Gran Kids loving my Hellcat they either love to ride in it or pretend to drive it. Most of all they loved to be picked up or dropped off at school in it. They brag My Granmom drag races!
And I let them tell their "Fish" Race stories anyway they want!:cool:

In 20 years our cars will be the old cars. When everyone is running around in electric cars it will be the memories of a supercharged V8 that will bring a smile to those little kids faces.

Exactly! But my Granson is already being taught in school about the Telsela Electric car and how it's good for the environment. He sounds like a Wiki about it!
I say good and then floor it and when he is laughing and smiling and says "do it again"

I say That's why it's good to have some Tesela owners so we can have all the Fun!:ROFLMAO::cool:

Cool but would be suspicious as to why so much was swapped out on a "virgin" 800 mi motor. Cam, lifters, chain, bearings?. If motor was disassembled at a machine shop it would just need a clean and reassemble. At 800 miles the cross hatch would still be on cylinder walls. Still a very nice piece.

Nice ole stuff to have fer investments, but 10 to 15 years may be a boat anchor. Weekend warrior ride, great but parts will be difficult. Nice to see these around. That would break into my hooker budget.

Sitting that long without running, many if the surfaces would develop corrosion.

The new components makes sense to me.

I would be afraid to do anything but look at it.
